Default Post Your Windows 7 Beta Experiences

Whether good, bad, or ugly, let's share what we've found that works, doesn't work, and our overall opinion of the latest out of Redmond.

So far, my own experience has been mostly good with the 64-bit version.

x64 here too
I don't like the start menu and it can't be switched to classic
done some 3D test between Vista and W7, they behave the same
I want to do some file copy tests but I didn't found a file copy benchmarking tool

basically it's just Vista with a different name and look

Don't try to run the current CCleaner's Registry cleaner on Windows 7.

Don't be too surprised that it gets put back in with the final release...if not before through updates.

MS might not get classic menu back just because it may mess some of the new features
but who knows .... I really want classic start menu back

If I use the Default settings for the Power Settings (via the Screensaver options) to let the PC go to sleep mode, when I wake it up the mouse is dead. This has happened on 2 separate installations of the 64-bit version. Unless it's taking a VERY long time to wake up the PC, this is a problem. The keyboard is fine and I can restart normally using key commands.

Anyone else have this issue? Until it's resolved, I've set it to not let the PC sleep at all.

Using Windows 7 x64 , whenever i connect any USB device its like it intermittently disconnects and connects back, I keep hearing that sound when you connect any new USB device to your comp. I did a clean install on my system on a 250GB HD and not using stock drivers that came with the OS.

Yeah the most important thing, the crackling issue I had in Vista x64 with my X-Fi Xtreme music sound card is gone but I really miss the classic menu i hope they bring it back. I also have to say it has been stable so far !
