REALTEK SOUND
full reinstall of realtek drivers
go in safe mode uninstall it and restart than install it in normal mode

If you did successfully disable the RealTek audio and are still getting this, make sure you've installed the WDM drivers for the X1950 Pro. If you installed Omega's drivers, they don't come with the WDM drivers. You have to download that separately from ATI/AMD.

I used to have the same problem back when I had my ASUS M2NPV-VM motherboard. I had disabled the onboard audio but there was no way I could find out what the problem was. It got fixed when that board died and I replaced it by the much better M2A-VM I have now.

Since we're talking about audio devices, is it ALWAYS better to use an add-in PCI Audio card than to use the onboard RealTek?

Opinions and explanations, please.

[Just for the record, I have a C-Media 7.1 PCI card here sitting on the shelf. I've used it in other systems in the past but never really saw any noticable difference in performance over the onboard RealTek device.]
