Directx 10 for XP is wanted from long time. An alpha version of it is available now. Alky Project has released a preview of Alky compatibility libraries for Microsoft DirectX 10 enabled games. This can be used for Windows Operating system other than Vista to play games which requires Directx 10. This project was aimed to make DirectX 10 compatible games to run on Non Vista operating systems.
Cody Brocious, Lead Alky Engineer said they have released a DirectX 10 Alky preview ( Click to download ) which can be used with DX10 SDK.To install:
Copy d3d10.dll, d3dx10.dll, d3dx10.dll, dxgi.dll, and Nucleus.dll to C:\windows\system32\
To get the examples:
1) Follow the instructions on Express - Visual C++ - Easy to Use
2) Download and install the DirectX SDK from Download details: DirectX SDK - (April 2007)
To build and run an example:
1) Go to the Microsoft DirectX SDK folder, Samples, C++, Direct3D10, Tutorials, Tutorial12
2) Double-click "Tutorial12_2005.sln"
3) Select "Start Without Debugging" from the Debug menu.
There are a number of known issues with most of the tutorials,
but they will all work to some extent.
Tutorial 12 is currently the recommended example.
Please direct any feedback to the Falling Leaf Discussion
forum on Falling Leaf Systems Forum (Powered by Invision Power Board)[/code]According to Alky Project ,- These libraries allow the use of DirectX 10 games on platforms other than Windows Vista
- Increase hardware compatibility even on Vista, by compiling Geometry Shaders down to native machine code for execution where hardware isn’t capable of running it. No longer will you have to upgrade your OS and video card(s) to play the latest games.
I would suggest anybody who wants to give it a try, use the Falling Leaf Discussion forum and then go ahead with it. Do it carefully and If you don’t know how , you have the link above. Visit the Alky Home page and Update yourself.
I hope to see the magic of this on XP like it Directx10 for Vista |
this is interesting
but i dont get why dident they make a normal instalation for this one
it would be nice to install it normaly without screving around

#6 | | Site Staff | The only way to get DirectX 10 on Windows XP is to convince US DOJ to fill an Antitrust lawsuit against Microsoft, Nvidia and ATI and to prove in court that DirectX 10 is being used illegally to promote Windows Vista, and it is possible to use it on Windows XP technically. If you will get lucky, then the judge will force them to do so, but the chances for that is very low and it will take years on years.
Some Vista drivers are similar to Windows XP, but when it comes to graphics, it requires different code/driver due to the Vista’s new driver module. Ripping off the driver code or dissamble is nearly impossible. I already told ATI my opinion about this subject: “Exclusively AMD DX10 support on XP would be great and could offer serious advantage for the R6xx series. Can't you guys use the Xbox deal to convince MS?”.

#8 | | Site Staff | The United States Antitrust laws are very consumers-friendly. The problem is with the law enforcement, almost no one does anything about it. People spend hundred of the dollars on DX10 VGA cards, why the hells are you forcing us to use Windows Vista for DX10? It can run on Windows XP technically, and they just use DX10 as tool for sales. If you will convince Uncle Sam that these actions are bad for the consumers and the market, and the consumers are suffering, they will force them to provide support.
Another example is Nvidia’s Mobile GPUs software support. I bought a new laptop with GeForce GPU on it, and I can’t run some applications/games because of software compatibility issues, and Nvidia is not providing support for Mobile GPUs officially. I have to download drivers from unofficial sites like NGOHQ.com, to get my Mobile GPU to work. What can I do? You can sue Nvidia and tell in the court that the product is not fully working because of lack of drivers, and to force them to provide software support.
We can take Creative Labs as another example. There are too many WorldWide Antitrust Violations in the market, and no one is enforcing the law. These lawsuits cost a lot of money, and consumers don’t want to waste their money for it. We need some group to enforce these laws. |

example:
EU union have sued microsoft because of vista price and what hapend
microsoft payd some one and that ended pretty fast and price is still to high
all you can do is to find a string your self how to make dx10 runing on xp
