Default AMD Barcelona Quadcore rolling

AMD's server quadcore are to be released in just over a month. They will be socket F, 65nm and start at 2.3Ghz per core with a higher speed during the next quarter. After the server chips are in, the desktop is to follow with both duel and quad core versions of the mighty K10. DDR3 is also on the list and they will slab in that along with HT3.More interesting is the quad-core processor's power management system, dubbed Dynamic Independent Core Management (DICE), which not only throttles back each core's clock frequency according to need but can also halt cores entirely to conserve power further.

An unknown AMD CPU has popped up in seti@home distributed computing and topped the chart. Looks like an AMD engineering testing a sample. Barcelona anyone? For stat page click here

Default Barcelona smokes xeon

This feels awfully familiar:
AMD have demoed Barcelona showing a 42% floating point advantage vs the best intel xeon has to offer. Regardless of how much of this gap intel can close with its next That's a massive improvement over K8! click here

Just an update about the launch of barcelona. The clock speeds are going to be much much higher. This means as high as 2.9GHZ at launch day! Read here
