Post "Family Kicked Out of Buffet Restaurant", or... are we doing enough?

Don't know for sure if I put this in "off topic" or here... Politics won by a finger. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060505/...buffet_debacle. So this it: do the Chinese restaurant owners act right? are we doing enough in order to preserve the natural resources - including here attempt to not waste food? Do we need to?

Yes, Mac. They paid for the meal, alright. But I think the question here is if we can do - without harming ourselves - one little move in order to help things work out (e.g. not wasting food...), why not? Let's remember that world (natural) resources ends; the way they'll end, what we will let to our sons and grandsons - a devastated world or a self-sustainable structure which allows to explore rationally those limited resources - is our personal responsibility. That's what I think. .

I totally agree.

Interesting article, thanks for the link. I agree with both parties in that case. Although the treatment from the restaurant manager might have been un-ethical from a business point-of-view, it does however (in my opinion), appeal to the morals of most level-headed, reasonable human beings. Wasting food is wrong, but then again turning away paying customers for using a service as it was meant to be used is too. Bottom line, I think it’s great that this problem made the press. When it comes to sustaining life and resources on our planet, it seems Americans prefer the “out of site, out of mind” technique. With any luck, the exposure of such wasteful habits might encourage us to be a more resourceful culture.

True but what I don't eat there I take home ... and take for lunch the next day. What we do shouldn't be dictated it should be asked and therefore welcomed

Again, I agree with you Mac. But, we’ve all seen that sign on the wall in our favorite restaurant that states: We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason at any time… blah blah blah. You gotta’ love private industries. Whatever happened to the customer is always right?
