it would be a cheap, single-stroke upgrade that would really beef up your system without having to upgrade other parts.
of course you could go with a 4870 but i'd think you might want a new power supply for that one but corsair's are the best so it might live up to the task... |

imo a 48xx card could hold you for a while even if you go with a quad before the next gen of gfx cards comes along... ...i plan to not update cpu or gfx until this summer if i can avoid it... |

#6 | | Newbie | i looked at a power related post on tomshardware and my curent psu can cough with a 4870.. http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/geforc...w-31495-6.html
tracking prices as we speak.. was thinking about the 4870x2 or 4850x2 but power consumption on them is a lil exagerated..and that would require cpu and power supply updating.. wich would ultimately change maybe all my specs .. so going with the radeon for now :P... |

Either way i would recommend the the Sapphire Ati Radeon 4870 512mb video card from newegg.com for
$200 it is well worth the price. The video card is excellent because i have a much weaker processor than you (2.5 dual-core, not core 2 duo, compared to your dual core amd processor with 3.2 ghz, my processor only has 800mhz bus and you have 1000mhz.I only have an pci express 1.0 x16 and getting these results.. With my system I can play crysis warhead on top setting (enthusiast) with 4x anti-aliasing at 1280x1024 and with 2x anti-aliasing with 1440x900 as the resolution. So you should get much better results than me with this video card. |
