WiFi for me has always been pretty much a matter of plug and play (weel I guess No_plug and Play). I've never had to deal with any king of configuration at all except to first create the wireless network then secure it. Hope you find this problem fast because I know how much it can suck when you don't know what's going on. I'd however recommend you to stop buying ''these cheap little things we find on Ebay''. They are the problems more than anything else.

#16 | | Newbie | I think the problem is that you do not have a real wireless "router".
You are trying to use your PC to do the routing for you.
This requires a bunch more configuration than what you would have to do with a wireless router.
1. Your wireless adapter cannot assign IP addresses to other wireless devices (unless you are running your PC as a DHCP server, which requires more brainpower than I have). You need to manually assign IP addresses, subnet masks and gatewat settings on your Wii and your wireless adapter (You may choose 10.0.0.1 for your wireless adapter and 10.0.0.2 for your Wii with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 on both. If the Wii asks for a "gateway" enter the IP address of your wireless adapter.)
2. Your PC will have to be configured as a Internet bridge (I forgot exactly the procedure, but under the "Properties" of your wireless network connection there is the "Advanced" tab that has a box called "Internet Connection Sharing" (at least under XP). You might be able to get some more help from there.).
3. Once you have your PC configured, you really need somebody with a wireless device (i.e. laptop with wireless would work best). Ask him or her to help you test the Internet Connection Sharing. They will have to configure their wireless TCP/IP settings manually as well (i.e. IP: 10.0.0.3 Subnet: 255.255.255.0 Gateway: 10.0.0.1). Once you can establish an internet connection from the laptop through your PC, it is time to try the Wii again.
(I really wish I could be with you to see what all you have to do to make this work.)
The other option is to buy a cheap little wireless router (I bought mine for 40.00 US dollars. It's an old TRENDware TEW...). I had just a few little configuration issues with the router to get the Wii connected to the internet. The router actually serves as a DHCP server (meaning it assign IP addresses to connected devices (wireless and wired)).
I hope this is helpful. |

#18 | | Master of Disaster | | CPU: Phenom II x3 720 @ 3.4 | | Alright in the wii optionion i have the option to assighn an ip adress which i did as you said, same iwth the subnet mask, the there is one for a "Default router" so i put the adapter's ip adress in there, then the DNS i didnt know what to put so i put the dns ip from what it says in ipconfig for the main internet conection, in the adapter config utility i have it set to bridge over my ethernet adapter, still doesnt work, doesnt even try now with the test just error's out instantly (before it owuld try for a few seconds)
in the tcp ip options for the wireless conection i have ip and subnet set as you said, gateway set to the gateway ip of the main internet conection, same with the dns
what am i doing wrong?

#19 | | Professional Member | I just noticed something weird... Your usb device is acting like an access point and your computer is connected to that access point trough the same device????
Anyways, your setting the DNS in your wii wrong, your's wii DNS resolver is what is resolving your dns in your case the "router": the router is either your computer (most probably) or the wireless usb device. Your best shot is make you wii connect to your computer then in the connection settings set up a bridge with your internet modem or buy a wireless router and donate your wireless usb device. |

#20 | | Master of Disaster | | CPU: Phenom II x3 720 @ 3.4 | | Well i think im making some progress
I set the wlan adapter's ip to 10.0.0.1, the wii to 10.0.0.2, the subnet mask is 255.255.0.0 on both, i set the dns to what it says the dns server for my main internet connection is under ipconfig /all, and i also set the gateway in the tcp/ip settings of wireless connections to the default gateway ip for my main internet conection as show in ip config,
I am now getting error message 52132 which acording nintendo's error code lookup is somethign to do with a firewall, i do not have one enabled and wep is disabled so that cant be it.
I think its something to do with either the dns server or the gateway that i entered int othe tcp/ip, im not sure if i should be using the values which are under my main connection.
Or, im not 100% sure if the bridge feature in the config utility works properly, i tried creating a network bridge in the network connections(buy seleting them both and right clickign then going to bridge) but that doesnt work, it makes my internet no work at all and i still get the same error as above on the wii.
Also ive been noticing alot of security certificates expireing, gmail, ebay and nintendo's all expired today, so maybe thats causing the error, i dont know
but i think im getting closer, any thoughts?
Edit: ive tried setitng the dns on the wii to my adapter adress, same thing
P.S. im not blowing 40-50 bucks on a router, there is no reason why this cant work so its this or nothing
