#14 | | Even Simpler | | CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 | | | GPU: Nvidia GF9400+9600M GT | | | M/B: Apple MacBookPro v5.1 | | | RAM: 2x2Gb Samsung/Mac DDR3 | | | PSU: 85w MagSafe External | | First, definitely go with AM2+ , that will give you much better upgrading support for later. Then, buy a motherboard with an AMD chipset --->`nicks Nvidia. Then, get either a dual core Athlon or a fixed B3 stepping Phenom if you want a quad-core (model numbers 9x50). Then get a some RAM that you judge good. Then get a video card top fill in your budget gap if you want to but the one you have now is still ok (even if its an N$hitia)

(P.S If you or me can buy all the components I've listed below for around £1600 today on a commercial website how does he expect to build a rig that can "play basketball with that system" for the same amount of money anyway???)
