#1 | | Banned | To anyone who can. Can someone get a message through to the higher ups at AMD, informing them that the Driver team for the Radeon line are a bunch of Dumbasses.
there are severe issues in Radeon drivers with OpenGL vertices and a strange issue with wierd triangular artifacts in Full screen FBE uploads. |

Is it ATI or AMD that has caused recent issues with Cat drivers .. hmmmm

Ever since they acquired them the development of the new (still not great but many many times better) codebase was hastned and they started the open source RaedonHD driver which I'm pretty sure ATI would never attempt on their own.

#8 | | Banned | no, i don't have a Radeon myself, but i have to tend to those that do on the PSX Emulation forums, who are extremely pieved that they can't use the OpenGL 2.0 plugin on thier cards because the OpenGL ICD on Radeon cards is bugged, the Triangle bug only occurs on ATI/AMD cards, and while it was only a problem at first in Vista, now it is a problem in XP with the latest Catalysts as well.
Another problem is the fact their ICD still doesn't report NPOT capability properly, causing issues in games that try to autodetect this function, it automatically results in a slight performance hit as NPOT is done in software when it can't be done properly in hardware. other games just crash until a function that requires NPOT is removed.
In both circumstances i can see this as being a major issue for those who do Rendering work for games, movies and the like as the functions having problems in emulators are the same Framebuffer upload functions used by OpenGL render modes in programs like MAYA and the likes.
and before anyone touts the goodness of catalyst drivers,.. i take it you haven't tried the latest version as they seem to have a slew of issues with games.
@Mac
Some of these issues have been around since the 9800, but the triangle bug is a recent one. |

#9 | | cel rau | latest 8.1 driver is a shipload of crap
they released the driver and a hotfix for in in the same day ... why? couldn't they integrate the hotfix in the driver suite prior to release ... I guess it's boring or .. something I don't get
at the performance level ... it worse than 7.12 which was worse than the 7.11
if they (AMD/ATi) will continue in the same downfall direction I'll seriously consider buying an X-BOX or even a PS3
