Playing videos freeze up computer after installing new drivers

Would really appreciate some help with this. Have tried installing 4 different drivers now (have uninstalled the old drivers every time, but haven't cleaned up the registry between every time), but every time I try to play a video, any video with any player, with the new drivers, my cpu usage rises to 100%, my screen starts turning itself off and on at rapid intervals and I'm barely able to ctrl+alt+del to end the process. Anyone have any idea what might be causing this?

i see your vga is 7800gs..

check my thread, try the suggestion i posted and if nothing of that works.. post again.:
