24 bit colour option?

Is there any chance a 24 bit colour option might be coded int o any future driver releases? Would be quite useful as my monitor like many can support 24bit colours (16.7 Million colours) but not 32 bit. I can use 32 bit to get the same colour quality but it would save system resources if there was a 24 bit option I think more so since I run at 1600X1200.

Otherwise may have to try editing the infs myself which is bound to cause problems

Any feedback appreciated

there is NO reason why a monitor cannot handle 32bit colours, as the colour mode is not based on the colour, but the graphics card.

as it is, 32bit colour is actually the same as 24bit colour, except it has an 8bit alpha palete (which is why its 32bit colour)
