Default XFX 7800GS Memory Problem

Hi everyone, first post from a long time lurker so be gentle

I have just updated my drivers from the NGO 91.47 drivers to the 93.71 version.

I have occasionally suffered from the signal loss problem which I am unable to pin-point the problem of (runs ok on stock but when overclocked any i randonly receive it). One driver version didnt have this but I am unsure of which version.

Anyways irrelevent of that my "problem" is this:

On installing the newest drivers i checked the Clock Frequency Settings portion of the control panel and noticed on stock that my memory was being set to 2.6Ghz

I enabled overclocking and put it back down to 1.40 stock but was wondering if anyone knows the cause of this? (on a similar note a friend of mines bought a 7600GS and the 91.47 drivers ran his ram at 400Mhz and when i updated them to the 93.71 it put it up to its proper stock of 800MHz)

This has to be a driver issue as earlier drivers have ran it no problem so i thought id inform you of this

I also tried after fully cleaning the system with driver cleaner and reinstalling all chipset & gfx drivers to no avail.

Any ideas would be welcome

Regards, Drew

EDIT: Seems its a problem reporting the speed on a further checkup (ATi tool reports the correct speed, just seems weird that on my friends pc, his 7600gs had halfed speeds reported and an update fixed it, yet update on mines doubles its reported speed)

1450MHZ is reported as 725MHZ because it's DDR (Double Data Rate) so 2x725 = 1450. In other words: There's no problem!

lol i already knew that but my point is that in nvidia control panel it shows as 2.6GHz, which would i
imply i had 1.3GHzx2 = 2.6 which is false as ati tool shows the correct frequency of 650MHz which obviously means 650x2=1.3GHz

was just reporting this as a bug as i'd seen this happen before on a friends as well
