Default What is the difference between 84.56 NGO and other drivers ? PLEASE HELP !!!

I have a Leadtek 7800GS ... recently I've done a vmod and put 1.55 volts to the GPU. The main problem is that it works perfectly with 84.56 NGO modified but it doesn't work (it's not stable) with any drivers except this one !

Is there somekind of protection that 84.56 does NOT have ??? What is so different about this driver ? It works 100% and with other drivers (including NGO 92.91) in some games I get a black screen and no signal to monitor ... like the card shutsdown ...

My card is watercooled so water is not an issue here ...

I've tested several modded or original bios-es nothing seems to fix it ! only this driver ...

So please someone HELP.

Try to use the latest NGO driver, but in the installation process make sure to choose “Compatibility” mode. Oh and yeah, these 7800GS issues are known and Nvidia faults and it seems they don’t care about it, that’s why you can’t use the normal ForceWare drivers. We already wrote an article about it, and informed Nvidia about it but they are still ignoring it, probably because we are only NGOHQ.com and not Tom’s Hardware (But hi! when it comes to graphics, we can own them all.).

I haven't tried compatibility mode ... I've tried the driver normaly.

The idea is that with no vmods ALL DRIVERS WORK !!!

With the vmod @ 1.55 volts only NGO 84.56 WORKS 100% stable in everything.

So a protection might be omited in this driver or something.

and it solved my high OC too very good job !

I can work 100% stable at 570/1600 MHz and 1.55 volts on the 7800GS with this driver:

92.91 NGO compatibility
84.56 NGO normal

NGO is the BEST !

offtopic:

Forceware 96.89 (XP/2000) when will this be available from NGO ?

this is a pretty nice driver ...

Anyway I would like to understand or see what is modded in these drivers that allows my card to run at higher frequencies and volts without tripping the overcurrent protection.

This will be very interesting

so please if you can teach/show me what to do to be able to use different drivers ...

I want to try this beta 96.89 but I got the black screen no signal issue at 570 and 1.55 volts....
