Default Nub question about overclocking

Hi I just downloaded 91.45 NGO drivers and seem to be running into an issue when I attempt to overclock my graphics card.

I have a XPS Gen 2 laptop with a Geforce 6800 Ultra.

I will use the detect optimal frequencies button and it will select some oc'ed settings for me. I click apply, but it doesnt seem to be doing anything. I alt tab back into WoW to test the new settings and the framerates are excactly the same.

If I click OK and close out of the graphics cards settings, then go back into them two seconds later the OC'ed frequencies are back to default, despite me just changing them.

If anyone could offer any sort of help I would greatly appreciate it...

I will check it out. Minwhile, you can use RivaTuner or ATiTool to overclock.

Hello,

Unfortunetly Rivatuner had the same problem. I would select overclocked frequencies, test them and apply. Click ok and go back to the screen and clock speeds are at default again.

I googled some stuff and in this review found:

"We found that Far Cry was still perfectly playable at the Gen 2's native 1,920 x 1,200 resolution, with quality settings on maximum. However, The Chronicles of Riddick was a little jerkier using the Shader Model 2.0 settings, averaging 28.7fps, but dropping to 19fps at some points. It was totally unplayable using the Shader Model 2.0++ mode. This is nothing that a little GPU overclocking can't take care of, we thought, but unfortunately the Gen 2 didn't play ball. The Coolbits 2 auto-detection routine wouldn't overclock above the stock frequencies, and manually increasing the clock speeds only made the Gen 2 unstable. It's worth noting that the 3D module isn't user-upgradable, either."

There must be some way around this problem, and you guys def have a lot more experience with stuff like this than I do. I am hoping there is some sort of solution here.

Again, any help is greatly appreciated.

How about PowerStrip?
