it doesn't technically improve performance

it just helps with the usual stuttering that occurs as new textures are loading from ram to vram.

Yeah, I noticed that in the 3DMark series, oddly not so much in gaming though .

Good thing is, because the stuttering stopped, my marks went up! I've seen this before with drivers causing pauses / long stuttering and it made the mark drop considerably!

Thx for your help, and the explanation Squall ! I'm glad to know how this works, and why !

Question

OK done some tests:

All set to 64 , GPU 128
I get +80 points in GPU score , -35 in CPU score

compared to:
All set to 32 , GPU 128

??

set that SB-Live to 32. it isn't as cpu demanding as the Xi-FI.

EDIT: Found this: PCI Express cards DO NOT have PCI Latency timers

what do i change?

video system: nVIDIA 7800 GTX SLi [512MBx2]
sound: Creative Xi-Fi Fatal1ty w/64MB X-Ram.


what items in the pci latency tool do i change for my video system?

all your latencies are fine.

but if you are getting jittery sound try increasing the Sound card latency ot 64

you can put realtek on 32 (no damage) and usb on 32
