Default Quick Noob question...pls help

Hey, after watching my nvidia official driver crash numerous times during rainbow 6 vegas 2, a fellow online gamer told me bout you guys.

Now here's the summary, I am running two GeForce 7900 GTX's in SLI.

Should I be using the optimized driver 1.16925 OR forceware 175.16?

Right now im using the forceware but in the middle of a game the screen will suddenly flicker and crap out with minimal momentary ability to move my character b4 it flickers out again making trying to exit the game a bitch.

WTF am I doing wrong?

Pls help...these computer issues are making this loyal pc gamer start to look toward a PS3 (ack, say it ain't so!).

Yes, you should try out the latest optimized drivers. Also make sure you have the latest OS updates and chipset drivers ( it can always help)

Default Hey, me again.

Well I completely uninstalled everything nvidia and re-installed the driver...works better...counter-strike source works no problem...but rainbow 6 just crashed (I'm wondering if it's just this shitty game or wtf)...and I tried installing the optimized driver tool but I get this error msg -

"Error 1721. There is a problem with the windows installer. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Action: InstTool, location: C:\Windows\...\MSICFB6.tmp, command: "

Ya...boo to that. Also, when im in rainbow 6, certain textiles look shiny and sorta flicker...arg...spend 5 grand on a system and 2 years later you gotta modify the hell out of it to get it to continue to work properly...pisses me off...And I don't even get why that optimizer won't install properly...Any suggestions? Last thing I can even think of that might help is try to update my mobo and see if that does anything...aside from that, I've run out of ideas.

If you can't install the optimizer there's something wrong with your windows installation.

God...Damnit... Well I installed all the OS optional stuff and got windows aero and now the tmp file that's missing is different then the one I posted above...would manually finding and installing the new missing tmp file to the right spot be a good idea or should I spend 16 hours re-installing everything?

R6V2 is nothing compared to COD4 if that helps. It's rather "consolish", boring in singleplayer and the multiplayer is inferior in absolutely every dimension. That said I've never had any problems with it as it uses the rather unoptimized unreal3 engine.

Default COD and RSV

Hey,

I have both games. Now, from map to map i CoD4 I will have a random barrel or something be a color of purple or a random textile stretch itself across the map or something, but I never once crashed...it was only when I started playing Rainbow6: V2 that it crashed...even the first vegas would have a random textile do something weird but never crashed.

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I f*cking needed to get a nocd crack to play the flipping game to begin with. First game I ever bought that I needed to hack to be able to play, very nice...not.

It sucks to have such an issue with graphics. Maybe something is wrong your graphic cards.

And BTW, I don't want to be giving you morals, but I find it pretty foolish to spend that kind of money on a system. You're best to spend maybe a good 1500 and get something decent that's easily upgradable instead.
