#1 | | Newbie | Performance drop with latest NGO drivers I just wanted to let the NGO staff know that whatever it is they did with the 16218 drivers that caused the whole thing to speed up by almost a 100% (if you count the FPS in fullscreen with This benchmark) doesn't seem to work in the latest drivers. My GeForce 7900 GTO is the same as with normal drivers.
I should also add that while performance has decreased, stability is improved somehow. HOWEVER, the previous drivers were also stable when I booted my computer using MSCONFIG and disabling all non-Microsoft services and startup applications (there was apparently some conflict going on).
Still... I miss this boost to power... because now I don't see any incentive to use the modified NGO drivers, if I can get the same performance out of regular nVidia drivers.

#4 | | Newbie | I haven't seen any difference in quality. Only the mentioned stability.
IMPORTANT EDIT:
OK, I think there MIGHT be something more going on. I tried installing the old drivers again, and the really nice performance increase was gone there as well... so it COULD have something to do with my system in general.
Alas, I'm at a loss here. I made lot's of tests when the previous drivers came out, installing them and original nVidia drivers and it was clear, that with the previous NGO drivers, the FPS increase was almost a 100%.
Now, when I installed the latest NGO drivers the FPS dropped back to the 'normal' values, which I confirmed by installing the nVidia drivers. The performance was exactly the same. And now I can't even get back the nice boost from the previous version.

I have a thread where I benchmarked Nexuiz on Linux(32 and 64bit) vs Windows. Linux with any driver was insanely faster than windows with any nvidia driver and even the ngo drivers I tried at the time no matter how many times I repeated the test. After a while I tested tried 2.15822 and for the first time windows could perform the same as Linux. Until now no official nvidia driver has been able to match this.
Be a bit more specific about the benchmarks you used and the drivers you compared.

#6 | | Newbie | Clean up?
OK, perhaps there's a problem. I always did what the nice readme said: use the uninstaller to get rid of any drivers, then install the new ones.
Now, I know this isn't the ultimate test, but I always used this app: RT HDR IBL Benchmark And Stress Tester
Since more and more games use these features more and more extensively, I figure it's not a bad test.
Anyway, on the old drivers, I got around 50 FPS when running the test in fullscreen mode at the highest available resolution (1280x1024 in my case; LCD monitor won't handle more). Now when I installed the latest NGO drivers (as well as the nVidia drivers) it's back to 30FPS in the same test.
(Of course, like I wrote, when I install the old drivers I get the same lousy 30 FPS again. )

so you can gain performance you need
if you dont know how to set it up just ask
i think all of us can help you with that |

#8 | | Newbie | I actually have Riva Tuner... (had to tweak an OpenGL setting to get Quake Wars running) but the thing is, that the previous drivers gave a performance boost on their own. With no tweaking or overclocking whatsoever. Which is what made them so great.
If it's about setting up stuff in Riva Tuner that DOESN'T involve overclocking, then I'm all ears. I don't know much about the options in there, but I'd really love to see the performance from the previous drivers.
Also, what's up with that clean up Unixlord mentioned? |

#9 | | Golden Member | | M/B: GA-X48-DS5 + Asus P5E | | | PSU: OCZ 700W + HIPER 580W | | you need to run uninstaler of old driver and to run driver cleaner in safe mode Driver Cleaner Professional download from Guru3D.com <<Download
when you uninstal driver restart pc and while booting press F8 to enter start menu then select safe mode and when u open it
then run driver cleaner and select nvidia driver cleaning
restart again and enter windows normaly and then install new drivers and that is it
you will get less issues when you install it like this |

#10 | | Newbie | OK, I'll try that. See if I get the boost again with the old NGO drivers.
EDIT:
Well, I cleaned up the drivers like you said and installed the previous version of NGO drivers... No boost.
