CPU: Amd64 X2 4600+

Default Video Settings for games doesnt affect performance...Why!?!?

The reason i been tweaking my computer is to push out more fps for my gaming. Counter-strike:Source basically. But no matter what setting i choose, I get the same Average fps 178-181. Not a big difference. Anisotrophic is on 16x, anti-aliasing is 4xMS. 1600x1200. NO HDR, cuz it sucks in my opinion for games. gamma correction enabled, VSync off, All settings are on HIGH. Ive tried changing from 16x ani to trilinear and enabling the trilinear optimiZation and disabling the anisotrophic optmizations but nothign changes. Mipmaps are off, SLI enabled. The only differences i see is when i dont have the proper NVidia counter-strike:source profile enabled. Only then, when SLI is not properly enabled, does the fps suffer by not 30-40fps. Which i dont see why it is soo low. I mean i only gain 40fps in sli. If i can get 80fps in one spot, in sli should it not be 160? Double card = double fps i dont get why i dont get as much of an fps boost If anyone can explain that to me. Anyway im running 91.47 and it is the best gaming drivers for my 7950gt 512 OC cards.

Why you want more fps? You wont notice any difference when it goes higher than 100. You could use your CPU / GPU cycles that you're not using to help people to find cure to deseases, by the way nice job at guru3d doing this (sorry for the off-topic).

Two video cards dont mean dobled frame rates, I think your CPU is bottlenecking them, though there is no need of a powerfull processor because the new upcoming games will botteneck most of the users (im not telling that we will not get smooth play, but we wont get as much fps as we get in olders games like half-life 2 series or doom 3).

WEll i can somewhat agree about the bottlenecking because i overclocked the CPU and im getting a good increase in fps. If i overclock more i know i can hit more fps but its not like my framerates are 299 which is what i set the max to for this source engine. How can the cpu be bottlenecking the gpus if i lower the quality? SHould that not cause an increase in fps. What if i get 8800gtx 2 of em SLI, i know ill get more framerate. And the 8800s work alot harder than my current cards so if they can push out more fps with my current cpu, why not my 7950s?

Getting 2 8800 wont boost your fps and if it does it will be a small amount, instead get a powerfull processor like the new 6000+ amds or intel core 2 duos or even quad cores.

So basically ur telling me the problem is not my computer, or the software but rather the CPU? I mean its overclocked to 2.7 ghz... What would benefit more for me; Higher FSP or a higher effective clock rate like the 2.4ghz to 2.7ghz overclock?

Higher CPU clock, FSB also helps since its the bus that connects the CPU with the memory sticks and video card.

Xiaomhome dude your the man! Alot of the information you give me tends to just open my head up =) And thanks alot for that do not think it is unappreciated it because its is.

Ok, so ive maxed my cpu at 2.8ghz. I tend to have problems at that speed also at 2.7 i get some memory problems and random crashes with apps. When i hit a high fsb i dont know why but my Registry has to load an alternate log to fix the corrupt reading. Which id say is due to the Southbridge Frequency being overclocked too much.

This is what my bios looks like. THe options not the settings.
This page has mostt of the overclocking bios options for my m2n32 sli deluxe
ASUS M2N32-SLI Deluxe - Page 3 - The BIOS
but the specific ones;
JUMPTER CONNECTIONS - ASUS M2N32-SLI Deluxe Screenshot
CHIPSET - ASUS M2N32-SLI Deluxe Screenshot

I mean as you stated the northbridge works with the Ram and Video card and PCI.
SouthBridge works with everythign else. And i figure the Hard Drives are overclocked as well. So if i lower the SB clock, (from 5x to 4x or lower) will that fix the problem. I mean is there an article you can point out to me? Like a highly detailed overclocking faq because i search and Read and as you can see from my first computer break down ive done a bunch of reading from memory divider to northbridge southbridge to timings and heat and voltages. You seem to know what your doing so do you think you can enlighten me? THNX

Try lowering the CPU-->NB, NB-->SB. SB-->NB HT speeds to 3x or even 2x. I think its better start with 2x and if all goes well jump to 3x, lower HTT speeds wont give you more troubles than higher HT speeds. (HT = HyperTransport, if you're interested to know what are you changing by modifing that values read this HyperTransport - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) By the way I forgot to mention AMD's board does NOT use FSB anymore, im really used to it.

ok so for intel its FSB and for AMD its...? i thoguht it was HTT but im not sure now. HT = hyper transport, and HTT = Hyper threading tech. and I thought HTT was the abbreviations for the amd fsb name.
