#1 | | Newbie | | CPU: e2180 @3.2ghz std volt | | Burnt card or software screwup? So, yersterday i saw that a new release of ngo ati drivers was out, so i downloaded em, deleted the old ones(did get some error that it couldent find the uninstall things..) so i booted into safemode and used the drivercleaner pro, ran cab cleaner, then driver cleaner..
Anyways. the picture is clear and all when i load windows first, but when i scroll on this site for example its all jaggy, i tried to install the ATI drivers and other drivers, no diffrence it still does it.. Oh and for some reason it ****ed my cs window over, i do not run in windowed mode and this is what happens after a few mins, also on boot, but if i turn off the comp for 20 secs, the lines disappear.. Screenshot in link ;p (its a Radeon 9800XT btw) http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l1.../untitled4.jpg
Never overclocked this card, apart from the built in Overdrive thing

What driver were you running 2 days ago and for how long ?
I see artifacts in your screenshot yet you say you don't O/C. What files did Drivercleaner remove ?
I use JV16 powertools because I am sick of programs that cause s**t on my system ...
You either have a corruption or a software prob can't see this being hardware related

#6 | | Newbie | | CPU: e2180 @3.2ghz std volt | | I was useing the 1.6.6 drivers for about 2 months or more for sure, was hopeing for a small fps increase in wow, but erh, got this instead PRETTY RED LINES WHEE!
I set drivercleaner to remove on all the ati things it could remove, no log of it so cant tell excatly what files it removed.. the 9800XT card only ran O/C'ed when it was the automatic one (Overdrive) i really hope this is NOT a hardware issue, cause cant see how a driver would **** up the gfx card, oh and its about 14k Artifacts, or to the ATT tells me which came with the driver (which rocks btw.) |

#7 | | Site Staff | From the screenshots it looks like a hardware related issue. Take out the card, clean the heatsink and reapply thermal paste. If its not helping, try to plug the card in another system, but you're still having the same issue then your card is.. erm.. reached to the end of its life. |

Looks like all the software issues you have tried to resolve. I have no other suggestions except trying what Rege suggested. The only time I have seen artifacts like this on my card is when I overclocked the ram a bit high ....

Definitely check out the cooling fan for dirt and debris and that the fan is functioning properly. Use a can of compressed air to blow out the area around the fan. I'd say it IS overheating.

So ATI is adding +20c to the temps, and the 9800XT is running very hot anyway, very odd and normal. |
