Default A Project for Rege and/or Ray Adams

With the X1950 Pro, I've been told that the Pro cards are not supposed to be able to be overclocked. However, as long as I have the ATI CCC installed, I can unlock the card for O'cing.

So, the 'project' is: Can something be done to allow for O'cing w.out having to install CCC?

The latest CCC is a drastic improvement over previous ones. But, the AVIVO adjustment screen gives me a static Flag image instead of an animated one. Several others have confirmed this. So far, it seems to be the only thing NOT working in CCC.

The latest ATiTool can do this. Possibly RivaTuner as well but its ATi support has always been a little lacking. You can find it here: http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=725

NOTE: Not to be confused with ATi Tray Tools

Thanks!

But, I really don't want to have to use a hodge-podge of apps if I can keep from it. Since the NGO ATI Optimized drivers already come with ATT, I'd really like to see this option incorporated into the package.

Hey Dyre,
I have the x1950pro too, and I can overclock mine without the need for CCC to be installed, but I've noticed some bugs.

For example, I had the 6.12 NGO drivers installed, and I use ATT for my control panel (have neither CCC nor CP installed, but I could still overclock even when I used the CP) Now I use the 7.2 drivers without the CCC, but still have the same issues with overclocking.

I run my card all the time at 633mhz core and 1500mhz memory, and its perfectly happy at these clocks.. However if I try to set GPU clock to 625, the screen will go blank as soon as I hit "apply". Same happens if I set it to 610mhz, but 600 will work just fine, as will 615 or 633. Just for shits and giggles I tried to UNDERCLOCK my core from its default speed, and when changing it from default 575 to 550 mhz, I got blank screen immediately.

Similarly, I get problems when I set my memory clock to certain values. I can run my card perfectly stable all day at 1380, 1400, 1500, 1525, but at 1450, 1475, 1510, 1533, I will again get a blank screen as soon as I hit the apply button.

I'm thinking its probably some incompatibility between the software I'm using (ATT) and the clock signal generator... or maybe even some engineering problem in the board design, but if you play around with the clocks, you may find a sweet spot where you can get some extra performance and still run the card stable.

(BTW, I cannot install the latest CCC on my system. I wanted to give it a try after all of the hype about it working properly now, but it simply will not install on my system (it says it installed, and it shows up in my "add/remove programs" list as being installed and only taking up 0.2MB of space, but it simply is not on my system and I cannot get it to work. the 7.1 CCC installs and runs fine, but it sucks)

well isn't that just the common voltage problem ?? if you change the clocks to hard you will have to apply the correct voltage and if you dont - you get your blackscreen...

no, not quite. Voltage is important, but this is definitely either a software or hardware issue. Voltage wouldn't explain why its rock stable at 633mhz but not 625 or even a lower than stock clock speed.
