#11 | | Guest | Hi all,
Well, after a few months worrying about not being able to keep up with the latest drivers AND being able to watch TV - i've found a solution...
A friend put me onto a nice application called Intervideo WinDVR3, so I downloaded the trial and then re-installed NGO v1.66 drivers again, along with the T200 Unified driver and then finally installed WinDVR3 - it works!!! The key was to ditch ATI MMC - after all that!!
At this point I head butted my desk - did I feel stupid!! At least it's sorted now, just wish ATI would do something with the MMC proggy through.
The inclusion of the WDM drivers in the NGO driver package is a definate boon.
I like the IQ of the display drivers and the installer is very discrete.
So, thanks to Regen and to everyone else for trying to help me, you're help was truly appreciated.
Thanks again,
A. | |

#13 | | Newbie | Hi, i installed ngo 6.6 standard, and once in a while i get huge fps drops (@ counter strike 1.6) i haven't had this issue with the official cats 6.6, is there any reason why i get fps drops?
should i stick to the original ones?
pd: i did not choose ultra edition because my video card is a radeon 9550 guru @ 9600XT 128MB, and i have 512 RAM. |

#16 | | Newbie | | PSU: Enermax Whisper 431w | | I have the Ultra installation of NGO 6.6, and benched with 3DMark 03. Lost 300 marks compared to the Cat 6.6 w/ CP, but could have been because I'm new to ATT. (Always used AtiTool). Changed some of the "Quality" settings to "Performance", and gained the marks back. Then spent 2 hours with Oblivion, and they seemed to do a very nice job there so far with the default settings. If I ever get the ATT utility figured out, I'm sure the optimized drivers will be a winner...
Later....

Later.... | The ATT utility took me some time to figure out, too. But, just spend some time looking around and you'll start feeling right at home.
I just wish we could get the general Direct3D Triple Buffer setting back instead of having to do a game profile for it.

#18 | | Guest | Great driver Hi Reg and everyone. I just want to drop by this forum to thank you for the great drivers (especially the latest ATI 1.6.6) and the helpful information on this forum. It helped out a lot generally.
Best regards, | |

#19 | | Advanced Member | | RAM: Ultra XL 1GB Dual Chan | | OK, well I like the fact that these NGO 1.6.6 drivers will install on my Radeon x1600Pro AGP, whereas I had to modify the NGO 1.6.4 drivers' .inf file to get in order to install them with my card because the drivers didn't recognize the x1600 series for some reason...
However I seem to get slightly worse performance with the 1.6.6 drivers than I did with the 1.6.4s, but only slightly. The only games I play really are HL2 based games (HL2:E1) or UT2k4.
I actually find myself using the NGO 1.513 drivers most of the time because I seem to get the best performance with them over any of the most recent driver releases. |

Anyone have an idea as to what could have been the cause of the 'crackling' sound?
