Yeah i agree with MacDaddy... try the Cat 6.4 and see if you get the same issue. If not, then it can be some modification in the ngohq driver that does this?? I know that when i used cat.64 i got smartgart thing doing a performance test at every boot, even if i have pci-e... so could be that smartagart thing doing the corruption?? some kind of 6.4 bug!!

I recently started using an X800GTO2, (Thanks Regen!! - I've been super busy but am planning on a write up of my rebuild soon as possible) which is fairly similar to your XL. I installed NGO's 6.4 driver set from the get go. No! wait! Your card is an AGP. That could make a huge difference....

How up to date are your GART drivers? I'm somewhat at a loss because I haven't set up an Intel chipset lately, at least when I've been paying attention. (I apologize for my mental block against P4s, I shouldn't be that way but I am...) I just assume that Intel's chipset utility installs a GART driver for AGP. My point is that these are just an intermediate set of drivers, which logically would load prior to the regular video drivers loading.

I've had various cards that displayed junk like this before. In fact I have an XFX 6800GS now that gives me a momentary "green glow" on boot up, it lasts maybe 1.25 seconds at the most. I've also had video cards in the past that would give me "checkerboard" patterns during boot up, and that was normally a messed up GART driver now that I think about it. Other than that you can try the stock ATI 6.4 drivers, or perhaps go back to the 6.3 drivers. (Hope some of this helps!)

I've been asking about this matter over at DriverHeaven and found out that there are others who are getting the same thing with any drivers based on CAT 6.4. That's the official one and all the 3rd party drivers, too.

So, it's definitely a driver-related issue and not a system issue. Those who are beta testing the 6.5 drivers are saying that the issue is remedied in the upcoming 6.5 drivers.

So, at least I know it's not isolated to my machine.

That’s what I thought.
I hope it will be solved in Catalyst 6.5.

Default I can fix it it's not the driver

I just had the same problem. with the same agp card pci should not have this problem
My power supply was not getting her all the juice needed especialy when I over clocked or ran a high end game .
Make sure you have it as a direct line only.
and if you Really wish to test it drag over another computer and do a direct connect
I just added my self to the forums so I could answer you.

UPDATE added the 6.5 many other odd things are fix as well

My PSU is a 550 W with 28A on the 12V rail. And, it's directly connected to the video card...not Y-splitter.

I'm also not overclocking ANYTHING. I only overclock to do benchmarks.
