Default counter-strike tweaks for x800 xt?

Hey guys, ever since I got an x800XT I haven't been able to get good fps in CS 1.6. I would like to use the ultimate cs drivers, but of course they're incompatable with my video card. None of my settings or hardware configuration are relevent because I had a 9800 pro before and had fine fps and I'm not that dumb.

I even tried hacking old 4.7 cat drivers to support my card - I succeeded, they installed, but just plain aren't compatible with my newer video card.

Is there any driver I can try that has some sort of enhancement for older opengl games like cs that actually works with my card?

Welcome to NGOHQ,

Unfortunately the old ATI OpenGL Driver is not supporting the x800 series. The only solution is to ask ATI to optimize their OpenGL driver to the Quake 3 Engine. Most of the popular first person shooters in the world are based on the same engine. I had to replace my old 9800XT to 6600GT for the same reason.

P.S.
What about other games? they running good?

Yeah other games are running fine, probably because they're running on d3d or they're running on the newest ogl engines.

So basically, there's nothing I can do? Because it's not like ati is gonna listen to anyone.
