Default could somebody explain the PCI latency tool included with the 2.5.8 driver

i am wondering what it does and if there is any risk in using it. thank you for great driver

We decided to include this handy tool so you could adjust the PCI latency in order to avoid PCI bus choking. It helps optimize performance and resolve stuttering and sound issues. It's recommended to set latency values to 64 for all your PCI/AGP Devices. This tool doesnt support PCI Express cards.

PCI latency timers are a mechanism for PCI bus-mastering devices to share the PCI bus fairly. "Fair" in this case means that devices won't use such a large portion of the available PCI bus bandwidth that other devices aren't able to get needed work done. (Click here for more details)

applied the 64 to all devices and nothing blew up stuff "seems" better but am unsure what to look for. ran benchmark before and after and actualy lost points with 3dmark03. 25 points was all though which is not major.
