Question BF2 High End question.

Greetings,

Please excuse my ignorance on graphic cards, but I'm still in the process of learning everything I can about them. I currently am running a Diamond Sapphire X800 XT Platinum ed. with a AMD 4000+ and a gig of corsair on WinXP. I have yet to find any benchmarks with NGO drivers on a system with remotely similair specs.

I spent way too much money on my baby and I want to make sure I only feed her the best. I'm also a HUGE BF2 fan, and also play a good deal of other FPS, (HL2+CS:S, D3, Swat 4), and San Andreas.

I still can't decide on the NGO's yet, because, now don't laugh, I'm totally afraid of installing non-ATI drivers. Chalk this up to my lack of graphics knowledge. I know it's as simple as uninstalling the catalysts from the add/remove portion of control panel, and running your install file--but I'm just a little queezy about it--especially since I suspect my card of nearing 80C when playing for a couple of hours.

Anyways, now that I've completely embarassed myself, I was wondering if you can give me some direction to some high-end benchmarks, and say a little something to allay my fears of betraying my beloved ATI. (PS--I run BF2 on Medium with only textures, geometry, FX, and texture filter on high. The game auto set me to high, but doing a quick 180 [common in BF2] always dropped my framerate for that critical half second that spelled my death.) I would really like to improve my performance with all high settings.

Thanks for your time,
Dan in Seoul

Just remember that the NGO drivers are just modified ATI drivers. I use them on my X800 Pro without issues of any type.

You can use NGO or any other modded driver based on Ati's Catalyst with your card and rest assure it wont mess up your video card or system. Like Chaos said, they are based on Ati's drivers, the only big difference is they are tweaked to provide better and higher performance on games.

Even though this is probably sarcasm it's doing well to scare me away.

'Spose I best try it just to spite you then.

In your face!

Wait a second...

They are def. better then stock. Anyone who hasnt done so, install the 2.5.6 drivers. They are excellent especially with BF2.

cheers NGO.
