Default Does it work with D3D and old cards ?

Hi everyone,

Some time ago, I had a problem with my Radeon 9800 Pro and DirectX game (while OpenGL app worked correctly). After a lot of headache and a reset of my computer (sorry, don't know the word in English for deleting everything and make the computer clean as the first day ), I downloaded the latest drivers and, again, the same problems. After a lot of searches, I finally found that R3xx cards weren't supported anymore, so I downgraded to Catalyst 6.6. Now it works, but I would like, if possible, to update them. Does it work with the latest NGO Drivers or it will be the same ?

Thanks !

Greetings and welcome to NGOHQ.

The NGO drivers are simply based on the official drivers with some tweaks. So, any version of ATI drivers that have issues with older cards will have the same issues with any 3rd party driver.

You are better off using the older drivers that work.

However, the Radeon 9800 card is STILL supported by ATI. The cards that are no longer supported are those that are DirectX 8 and earlier. Any DirectX 9 card is still supported.

EDIT: You should try installing the CAT 8.1s and then follow it up with the 8.1 Hotfix. There have been some good reports coming out with that combination.

Yeah, format (in fact it's the same word as in French ).

Dyre Straits > Ok, I'll try the last drivers and the hotfix, but the changelog of the hotfix in ATI's website doesn't mention R3xx series (but Radeon 9800 Pro is such a good graphic card, I can't change it , ok I'll change it at the end of that year, but that was their best card !).

In fact it works for OpenGL (I program with OpenGL and I read somewhere that new drivers get you new extensions, that's why I want to try the newest), but that's bad if it doesn't work with DX applications .

Bakura welcome to NGOHQ.com as Dyre mentioned and on the 9800 series it is AGP. Had a 9800 myself nice card. Recent ATI drivers releases have had AGP issues installing this new Cat 8.1 with the patch may resolve these issues worth a shot
