Angry HIS x1650 Card - cant get into Windows

All

Just got a His x1650 Radeon. Running Windows XP SP 2.

After installing the card (didnt get a chance to do anything with the driver at this point), the machine goes past the POST, I dont get the Windows loading page - then reboots.

Continuous cycle.

If I go into safe mode (which I get offered) then I can get into Windows and all is OK. I then update the drivers (I have tried the CD, His website and looking at this site) - but same thing happens no matter what I try.

My machine has an ASUS KV8 motherboard, 1GB mem.

I have seen similar issues on this site, but not sure which way to go...

Thanks

Simon

all i can suggest is make sure the card is seated right

maybe run a paint brush along the slot

rip it out try the start button with no card then reinstall

or try it in another pc to make sure it not the card

worst comes too worst a fresh load of winblowz

i own the same card never had a prob

This is strange because my dad recently bought a X1650 (but by Sapphire) to install on ASUS A8V motherboard. Except him it would not even reboot after POST, it would stay stuck in POST.

So what he did was to get PCI-E motherboard with Sapphire HD 2600PRO, now works perfectly.

By googling, I was able ,to find quite a lot of people that are having problems with this card, more specifically the AGP 8x version.

You should state which driver version/s you've tried to install. If you're trying to install any drivers newer than 7.6, you may be running into the AGP problem associated with these newer drivers. Try the 7.6 drivers and see what happens.

Good luck!
