Default Help optimizing my computer

Hi im new to these forums so im sorry if im not supposed to post here.

As you can see i have a fairly decent computer, i've built it off an acer aspire E700 model, and designed it for next gen games. But i've encountered a problem.
I dont seem to be getting the max out of my computer.

My friends, play mostly the same games as i do, with computers that aren't as good as mine, yet perform just under mine, or equal to mine.
To be honest im not sure why this is.

As far as i know every thing is up-to-date, and should be up-to-date.
I've been able to rule out virus' / spy-ware.

So any help would be grand.

Can't find much about that motherboard. Have you visited the Acer site and downloaded any BIOS, Chipset, and Driver updates for your system?

Pentium 4 is bottenecking your video card, you wont get its best performance with your processor. I never used an Acer motherboard before but you can try to update your Mother Board's BIOS and drivers like Dyre said.

You might also want to watch out for games that use lots of vram for textures at higher settings and adjust the settings accordingly so you are not swapping between ram and vram too much.

I've looked but havn't been able to find any updates for my bios / chipset.

What do you mean, when you say my processor is bottlenecking my gfx card.
If anyone could provide a site that has downloads for bios / chipset that would help out alot.

Here's where you start for ACER products. Select the Support and Downloads option at the top of the screen.

When one component is 'bottlenecking' another, that means it's causing the other component to run at a reduce rate of performance than what it can possibly do. Since your P4 is what it is, it runs much slower than the video card. So, your video card has to wait for the P4 to perform its functions before the video card can proceed. It's waiting in line and spinning its wheels instead of moving forward.

Could a possible reason for the bottlenecking be that i'm running pent D cpu's?

Yes, that's already been stated a few times already.
