Default Ati x1950 pro in Vista

Here's the deal. I've currently got a x1950 pro card running under Vista 32bit. The problem is that when I play games that run under the OpenGL API the card does a lousy performance when using the regular drivers from ATI.

I've installed NGO's modded drivers and they work swell with OpenGL based games (such as Quake 4) but there's two problems. One is that I loose the Aero3D desktop effect, which is not a really big deal for me right now, but the second problem is that when I shutdown my computer I get a bluescreen where it tells me that it has to dump the cache in memory or something and it's the ati2dvag.dll it talks about. (I'm not sure about the .dll name)

When I start my computer again, the refresh rate is set to 60 again. Since the display/monitor preferences are gone once I've rebooted my comp.

Does anyone got any ideas how I simply can run Vista with some drivers that support OpenGL well but doesn't give me bluescreens ? :P

Maybe wait for the Catalyst 7.3 drivers to come out. Maybe they will fix your issue. They should be out this wednesday.

I doubt it. Seems like Ati dont bother making good OpenGL drivers.

I tried that leaked driver from asus. No change at all.

The NGO Drivers are not supporting Vista at this moment, don't even try to install it on Vista. As far as I know, ATI is working to improve their drivers and OpenGL performance on Vista, we all have to wait.

Regeneration is right, uninstall the NGO drivers, run Driver Cleaner Pro, reboot and install the windows vista ones.
