[CES 2007] AMD Almost Acquired Nvidia in 2006 @ The Inquirer

A senior source who knows what’s going on in the industry confirmed that AMD was inch close to acquiring Nvidia. It would not have been that much more expensive for AMD to make a such an acquisition and it was very close to happening at one point.

hard to image if amd can get their hands on nvidia given to nvidia's dominance in various product (chipset, gfx, etc). It does makes more sense for amd and nvidia to be together because of better chipset for amd. Still it's quite amazing that amd get ati and can't wait to see what amd will do to it. (hpoefully not killing the gfx market)
