Unheralded Larrabee plots AMD and Nvidia takedown @ The Register
Posted by Regeneration on December 9th, 2006, 01:27 PM

A shadowy organization called Larrabee Development Group has set a most ambitious goal: unseating AMD/ATI and Nvidia as the largest producers of high-end graphics chips. And it might just succeed.

It may seem unfathomable for an unknown such as Larrabee to knock off two of the most powerful processor companies. That is until you realize that Larrabee is little more than a weak disguise for Intel. The chip giant has, in fact, ramped up its graphics efforts in recent weeks to create a product code-named Larrabee theoretically capable of besting AMD and Nvidia's best kit.

Thanks to Delerious for the headsup!

If they do this by actually putting out a "better product", then I'm all for it!

However, in the past, Intel has relied on Hype-Marketing to foist inferior products as being what people should have. I also realize that they don't want to try to buy out Nvidia. So it makes sense that they would at least fund some subsidiary. Let's just hope there is no connection between this and the anti-trust claims being circulated.

How can you say anything positive about intel? Even if they make a better product which they won't the response must be a boycott!

Actually, there most likely is, because it's Intel you're talking about.
