ATI's R580+ graphics processor, the heart of their new Radeon X1950 series of cards, has proved itself as a viable competitor compared to the best products which rival Nvidia can offer. Our prior benchmark tests with this latest generation of high-end graphics cards showed that Radeon X1950 XTX cards can outperform similarly priced GeForce 7900 GTX graphics cards from Nvidia. The only spot which this new card is outmatched is against the dual-GPU based GeForce 7950 GX2 graphics card, although this model is slightly more expensive due to its dual-GPU nature, which is great for performance but also adds in some minor incompatibility issues which the Radeon X1950 cards don't have.
