Windows Vista Build 5728
Posted by Regeneration on September 24th, 2006, 12:16 AM

This build (5728) has a number of improvements and updates from RC1, but has not been put through the same internal testing process as RC1 and therefore may be unstable in certain installations. We are making this release available for a limited time only (and only by download) in order to get broad distribution and testing in a variety of PC configurations.

Release Notes

Download x86 Edition
Download x64 Edition

I've just started the download. I'm hoping that they'll have a good ATi driver for Vista soon so I can test some 3D games.

You must have a DVD recorder... pff. I have a huge feeling that my PC belongs to an ancient era... They (MICRO$OFT) only mention 'burn to a DVD', but, maybe I could burn it to a CD? Or use tools like POWERISO?

nice they decided to release another build for the public...

p.s dvd burners are around since 2002-2003 and these days are practically one of the cheapest things in the pc.... i would think its maybe the time to buy one before we move on to bluray or HDdvd..

I finally got it installed about 40 minutes ago.

This is the third build of Vista I've installed and each of them has taken about an hour and a half to install.

I'm doing a complete installation from the DVD in each case.

An hour and a half is a LONG time, though.

I'm reading that some guys are getting it installed in about 20 minutes.

I'd love to find out just why it's taking my system so long to do the installation. But, after three in a row, at least it's consistent!
