ATi Catalyst 6.9 with Control Panel
Posted by Regeneration on September 20th, 2006, 07:26 PM

We have noticed that some people still prefer to use the old ATI Control Panel over the Catalyst Control Center. As a result I have decided to incorporate the Control Panel into the newly released Catalyst 6.9s.

Always nice to use these on the more retarded machines that cant handle smoothly the CCC .... would have been perfect for my 9250 but they had to move on at some point i guess ....

thanks for the grate work...

I downloaded and installed this set earlier tonight.

The installation went fine...no problems at all.

BUT....and this is a BIG BUT....my system became very sluggish using these drivers. The system was very slow to respond to input from the keyboard and the mouse.

THEN, to make matters worse, OBLIVION became a horrible experience. EXAMPLE: I broke into a house in Leyawin. Then, I went upstairs and unlocked a couple of doors. When I went to activate the open sequence, I had to wait for several MINUTES...not seconds...for the doors to even open enough for me to enter the rooms. I haven't had this kind of trouble since a few months ago now.

So, I've uninstalled these drivers and reverted to some ULTRA drivers for now.

These drivers get a 3 out of 10 for me simply because they did install without problems. Otherwise, they'd get a zero.

How are they doing in games, Mac?

I got serious performance hits in Oblivion with these.

Also, when I clicked on one of the images you attached, it didn't pop out into a new window. When I went to close that image window, it closed my browser. I thought Rege fixed this.
