Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Series Beta Driver v2.09.0001
Posted by Regeneration on May 30th, 2006, 06:07 PM

Creative Labs has finally released a new beta driver for their X-Fi series. This download is a beta driver for Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi. It is not fully tested. This download provides full OpenAL 1.1 support for gamers and some bug fixes.

Editor's comment: It's about time.

After reading the details i think i'll give 'em a miss.

Wonder what the reason behind putting a 120 day limit on the driver is for ?

Does that mean we are going to have to wait another 4 months for the final version ?

Yeah, I know. Creative has never been any good at driver support. They have always been a "once-a-year" type player and I am used to that by now. I guess I'm neutral on the matter because I still haven't had one single problem with my X-Fi card. None of my games have been unsatisfactory. BF2 sounds amazing, as does everything from Oblivion to Hitman-Blood Money, etc.. Maybe it's because I also have Creative 7.1 speakers running in a 5.1 configuration. Anyhow, I'm grateful for any release. Now I just have to test them. If they work, CHEERS! If not, wait for the final (another year from now).

This is my most favorite part:

"We recommend that only experienced users install this driver. Do not install this driver for critical tasks. Users who are looking for stable drivers should wait for the final release."

Wow.
