The original plan seemed to be relying on the rumoured X1900XL to counter the 7900GT. This seemed to be aborted last minute due to un-ideal yield of the R580. From there, the X1900GTO was scheduled to be the replacement. The speculated model name was recently changed to X1900GT, and this caused some confusion among the speculators. The reason for the change of name seemed to be for consumers to distinguish the price-point plane with regards to the competition easily.
