ATi Catalyst for Windows Vista Build 5308
Posted by Regeneration on March 13th, 2006, 07:25 PM

ATI is one of the first graphic providers to make a 64-bit driver that supports the Longhorn Display Driver Model (LDDM) – the Microsoft Vista revolutionary graphic driver standard – as well as the first to provide LDDM drivers for integrated graphics processors. By making LDDM drivers available more than a full year prior to Windows Vista release, ATI provides developers with a stable, feature-enabled and performance-optimized platform for application development.

hahaha ati are stupid.

the LDDM Spec might change still, and they are releasing drivers for an os that it still subject to change

wow, ati is sure fast with the driver release. It's interesting it used to be that nvidia is fast with their driver release but now it seems like nvidia only release drivers whenever there's new products.

It's not stupid at all - it's just another example of marketing at its finest. Read through that blurb again:

"By making LDDM drivers available more than a full year prior to Windows Vista release, ATI provides developers with a stable, feature-enabled and performance-optimized platform for application development".

Who cares if the LDDM specs change, what matters to ATI is that developers endorse and feel confident in using their hardware and software, and will continue to do so into the future. Making their hardware and software APPEAR futureproof and viable (whether it actually is or not) helps ATI to achieve this. It's little more than marketing and PR, and if nothing else it helps ATI stay in Microsoft's good books.

Lastly Squall don't forget that your beloved Nvidia has also developed LDDM drivers as well. Are they stupid too?
