now that's an impressive looking card!

I appreciate nVidia trying to release an AGP "upgrade". But when I consider the MSRP, I'll pass. Bottom line is that for the cost of a 7800GS, I can buy a 7800GT and a PCI-e motherboard.

Maybe that's what they had in mind... But it's not working in my instance. See if I'm going to "Upgrade" then I want the best value possible. And for a single card solution, the ATI X1900XT shines! I can buy a PowerColor version of this card for about $534 and get a Tul Radeon Xpress 200P motherboard (with ULi southbridge instead of the ATI southbridge) for about $50.

The bonus is that I'll bet ATI gets a performance boost when Vista/DirectX-10 arrive. But in any case this upgrade should give me good performance well into the 3rd quarter of next year, if not later. I consider that to be a much better value than some "overpriced, neutered", 7800. Sorry nVidia!!

Eventually I want to move to the "M2" Socket. But I want to give it some time to mature.

Very good points Cannyone. While personally I am still on AGP this new release doesn't overly thrill me all that much. It does look like a really nice card, but here in Australia it is $89 more expensive than the superior 7800GT. As you mention Cannyone what is the point of releasing new AGP products if it is more cost efficient to upgrade to the PCI-e platform instead? Maybe they want to prove that AGP really is dead by "forcing" us to move to the newer socket perhaps?

Maybe I will get two 7800GTs and run these in SLI. I really liked Crossfire, but ATi came out late with the motherboards and I'm too lazy to replace everything at home.
