Well... i like ATi a lot, its not the drivers, its the Catalyst that sucks... they really need to make it better.

I don't even use VLC anymore. KMP is much better imo. CCCP + WMP or MPC is nice too.

VLC sucks ass anyway, the only time I used it was to replace the old QuickTime on a customers' Mac because it sucked even more.

No the issue that VLC Developer is referring to is DxVA won’t run on cards older ATI cards before the 4xxx series. Unless something else has come up that I have not heard about.

You mean older cards e.g. ATi 3xxx series that has been ripped off of the UVD ?
I've been using MPC-HC without any issues with GPU acceleration on for months.
Don't see a problem why VLC can't use it either, but as I compare both of the software - MPC HC offers acceleration for Intel GPU's too. Maybe the problem is not 100% drivers ?

Just seems odd to blame drivers when others manage acceleration fine.
