because in the app folder, the exe is nothing else than a XML converter

I think I'm gonna wait for a hotfix. They seem to be the only good thins from ATI these days

Quote form changelog:

"Resolved Issues for All Windows Operating Systems
This section provides information on resolved issues in this release of the ATI Catalyst
Software Suite for Windows. These include:
[...]

Intermittent grey screen or vertical line corruption may randomly appear on the
screen"

Is that mean that they didn't fix anything?! Bastards!

Actually, you're quoting the wrong section. It should be:

"The following section provides a summary of open issues that may be experienced under
the Windows operating system in the latest version of ATI Catalyst. These include:
...........
Intermittent grey screen or vertical line corruption may randomly appear on the Grey Screen."

So, yes, the issue still is under investigation. Although, for myself, (and I may be talking too soon!) I have not had another gray vertical line screen since updating my DirectX with the Feb. 2010 update. And, I'm not sure that really has anything to do with it or if it's just coincidence. At any rate, if I get another one, I'll post about it.

I understand that ATi will be releasing crossfire profiles separately from drivers on a more frequent basis....that's got to be a good thing....come across quite a few games lately that don't seem to accomodate crossfire....latest one being Brothers in arms hells highway....thought for sure that as it is quite an old game it would have recieved a profile by now....but apparently not as renaming the game exe file to AFR-FriendlyD3D gave it a large boost of performance.

Some ATI users are reporting not being able to mode switch back to windowed when using ALT+Enter capable OpenGL games.

Others are reporting Texture distortions and Flashing in both opengl and d3d.

I haven't had any kind of texture distortion nor problem with Alt+Enter switches. Are those random reports, or can they be narrowed down to an acceptable number?

By the way, the other day you implied you knew what's wrong with the GSOD problems, with that "reference design" statement. Mind if I ask what's exactly causing the problem? That answer would be really useful.

Its only a theory but the fact many have fixed the issue by slightly increasing the 2D(or 3D) voltage basically concides with the idea that the GPU is crashing when switching from 2D to 3D mode.

You can make a similar thing happen on an overclocked nvidia gpu by loading all shaders at once on 3d start.

It seems to affect only really old OpenGL games, and can be alleviated by placing an older opengl icd into the games folder.

Hum, I've tried Quake 1 and have had no problems so far.

I also thought that it would be something happening when bouncing between 2D and 3D mode, but it looks like not everyone can fix the issue by altering the voltages. But if the problem was indeed related, wouldn't Catalyst crew already at least acknowledged what the problem is exactly?

I feel that if they're still investigating the problem, it probably is more complex than that.

It really isn't the catalyst team to admit a fault in the reference design. its up to the vendors who have made use of it to admit theres a problem and provide a fix.

this one is fucked too. going back to 9.10...

Hey Mr. Reg. Are there not any more of these newer drivers with CP? Thanks for any info.

The CP isn't working well with new GPUs (clocking, etc.).
