ATI Catalyst 10.1
Posted by Regeneration on January 27th, 2010, 09:42 PM

AMD has released a new build of their Catalyst software suite. This particular software suite updates both the AMD Display Driver, and the Catalyst Control Center. This unified driver has been further enhanced to provide the highest level of power, performance, and reliability. The AMD Catalyst software suite is the ultimate in performance and stability. Catalyst 10.1 brings performance improvements for Left 4 Dead 2, Crysis and numerous bug fixes.

No 3D Glasses support, no profiles, the uninstaller still leaves a lot of data on the PC, the Restore Factory Settings button is still broken, force resolutions is broken, HDMI isn’t perfect and people are still getting vertical stripes lockups with HD 5000 hardware. So I guess that’s another useless Catalyst release. And by the way, the version string is missing in this release, so it won't show the correct version, but it is Catalyst 10.1.

their drivers are getting worse with time

Yeah... looks like squall is right now. Instead of fixing critical bugs, they optimize old games that doesn't even require optimizations. Crysis is too old and Left 4 Dead 2 already runs smooth (outdated engine).

Doesn't sound good.

heh, I agree with the crysis shit, but they could optimise some of the older titles a bit better.

Surprisingly, of the ATI codeveloped games i have, 1 of them works perfectly(B&W2), and the other has off colour patterns both on ATI and Nvidia hardware(RCT3).

AMD needs to make its feedback/bug list transparent to users so they can vote on issues they deem the most important.

I guess i'll just stay with the RC2 version, I've not had any problem with it, so...

10.2 and 10.3 will supposedly bring CrossfireX profiles and 3D glasses support.

Hotfix already out:

This is normal under both Vista and Windows 7.

I, too, am sticking with the RC2 release. It's working well enough for me so far.

The drivers really get worse with each version since 9.3

I dont know why CCC is so shitty, its a simple tool and for Nvidia, no features
are broken with driver releases. At least not with a chance of 100%.

God am i pissed by Ati.

Radeon 5K anisotropy has been partially broken since release.

I've been using 9.11 for quite sometimes now.And it works rather stable for me.After hearing all these scary reviews, i've decided to stick with it a little longer unless a better one comes out.And by the way. What's the detailed change log for this driver anyway? I don't see anything major to the table except bunch of issues.

not working on my 3850

lost crossfire completely on my 4850x2 with an 'upgrade' to 10.1...
