12 Killed in Shootout at Fort Hood Military Base
Posted by Regeneration on November 5th, 2009, 11:51 PM

At least one U.S. soldier opened fire Thursday at Fort Hood, Texas, killing at least 11 people and wounding 31 others, military officials said. One gunman was shot to death, and two other soldiers were in custody, Lt. Gen. Robert W. Cone, commanding general of the Army’s III Corps, told reporters.

Cone gave no further details on the dead gunman. A senior Obama administration official told NBC News analyst Roger Cressey that one of the suspects who was in custody was an Army major. The official said the shootings could have been a criminal matter rather than a terrorism-related attack and that there was no intelligence to suggest a plot against Fort Hood.

Military and local hospital official officials said the victims were a mixture of men and women, military and civilian. At least one of those killed was a civilian police officer, Cone said. At least four local SWAT officers were among those wounded, NBC affiliate KCEN-TV of Waco reported.

My Internet and Cable TV [Comcast] has been out since before I got home from work. It just all came back up a few moments ago and I'm just now learning about this tragic incident myself.

At this time, it is being broadcast that there was only ONE gunman, Major Nidal Hasan, who was NOT killed and is in stable condition in an area hospital, AND who has repeatedly expressed opposition to the USA's involvement in the Middle East. The female soldier, who was the first responder, and who shot Major Hasan multiple times, was also initially reported killed, but that, also is false news. She is wounded and also presently in stable condition per current reports.

I guess we must all stay tuned for further developments.

My heart and prayers go out to the families of those who were killed [about a dozen] and many who were wounded.

EDIT: The death toll now stands at 13.

Who the hell has recruited that maniac? And he's supposed to be a psychiatrist. Where are all these liberal hippies? Now there are terrorists inside the US army.

Eran, this maniac was actually born here in the USA. His parents are Palestinians who emigrated to the USA over 40 years ago. He also enlisted of his own intention nearly 10 years ago.

He was educated in military institutions at the cost to the USA taxpayers. So, he got all his medical training and education at no cost to himself or his family.

He was not a convert to Islam, he grew up in it.

The most troubling thing I see in all of this prior to the horrible incident of Friday is that he has been espousing anti-American involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan for a long time now. Why he was not discharged as some conscientious objector is beyond me. I can only assume that doing so would have brought down the condemnation of the current liberal establishment as being 'racist'.

There is a climate in America right now, under this current president and his liberal cronies, that you cannot profile people based upon their religious affiliation, or even upon whether they are in this country illegally.

This guy was a natural born American citizen.

We have a saying here in our country: "Blood is thicker than water." I think it's a universal saying. It simply means that, when the chips are down, a person will be loyal to their birth status/family than they will to any other relationship.
