UltraDefrag 3.2.1
Posted by Regeneration on October 6th, 2009, 06:55 PM

UltraDefrag is powerful Open Source defragmentation tool for Windows NT. It is very fast, because the defragmenting is done by kernel-mode driver. They are three interfaces to them: graphical, console and native. The GUI is very useful, because it represents your filesystem visually as a color coded cluster map. The console is another option for those that prefer the command line. It allows you to run UltraDefrag from the task scheduler and scripts. Finally, the native executable will run at boot time in a manner similar to chkdsk.

Comparision with a well-known OpenSource defragmentation tool (MyDefrag / JkDefrag) is needed...

How this thing stack up against PerfectDisk?

Ultra Defrag is nice enough, it has a scheduler and it's very lightweight so it can work in the background without any problems/noticeable slowdowns.

In comparison with Diskeeper (which I used but don't anymore as don't want to buy it nor do I want to pirate it) it has less features, but definitively better functionality/price ratio.

Hmm, ive always been a fan of perfect disk, I dont believe in having an active defraging program running I just like to run a total defrag every now and again and I find perfect disk does as the name says, its defrag is the best ive seen

Ultradefrag does the same. It can run on demand or scheduled, it doesn't create any services or anything.

But how good is its on demand defrag? ive tried a few and most of them arent that great, perfectdisk thus far is the best Ive seen, maybe ill give ultradefrag a test run

I really don't know what to say. To me it seems it runs fast and silent, a lot better then the windows defragment utility and in the region of diskkeeper.

I've been using Smart defrag lately. Any comparisons around?
