My apologies to David Bowie; I have no idea how he would react to my twist on his original masterpiece.
NGOHQ to Major Tom
NGOHQ to Major Tom
Set your multiplier and put your headphones on
NGOHQ to Major Tom
Commencing start up, system on
Check your bios and may God's love be with you
Ten, Nine, Eight, Seven, Six, Five, Four, Three, Two, One, boot up
This is NGOHQ to Major Tom
You've really made the grade
And the forums want to know whose gear you run
Now it's time to push your system if you dare
"This is Major Tom to NGOHQ
I'm clicking through my apps
And I'm surfing in a most peculiar way
And my stats look very different today
For here
Am I sitting in a basement
Far below the world
Planet Earth is blue
And there's gaming I can do
Though I'm past one thousand front side bus
I'm feeling very still
And I think my processor knows which way to go
Tell my wife I love her very much she knows"
NGOHQ to Major Tom
Your circuit's dead, there's something wrong
Can you hear me, Major Tom?
Can you hear me, Major Tom?
Can you hear me, Major Tom?
Can you....
"Here am I cursing round my basement
Far below the Moon
Planet Earth is blue
And no more over clocking I will do."
Based on the music and lyrics of “Space Oddity”, by David Bowie.
Thanks for reading! | | | | Ehm... sincerely, just because I tried to win it ^_^ | | | | i would love to have it because i cant afford to buy one. i'm one of the unlucky constuction workers who can't find work. i have put in apps every day for almost a year to no avail.. but i keep trying and hoping. something like this would sure boost my spirits.. and i am a long time intel supporter.. they make great product. if you can find someone more in need then i can live with that too. good luck to everyone in here. i'm sure all could use a great CPU like that. and thanks for the contest. its nice to know that you care about your community!
or simply because i would put that sticker on the front of my case and tell everyone that asked how i got such a great CPU and why.. |

| | | | | | Simple...
Who wouldn't want the current ultimate CPU, top overclocks, top speed, top choice. | | | | With the power of the I7 920 in my hands I will rule the world. this is why I want a I7 920. to take over the world ha ha ha. With it speed I be able to turn every one into brainless zombies quicky and without errors. | | | | i deserve this to replace the AMD rig for an Intel boy...
that would make me an intel fanboy instead of an AMD one | | | | I'm moving to Brazil in 1 month, and over there i'll not be able to upgrade to anything even remotely like what we're used to over here. Plus they have unbelievable prices due to 50% import tax.
So if i won this, it would allow me to enjoy my enthusiast tendencies towards PC hardware a few years longer before being utterly out of date and lost, with only immaculate beaches to comfort me (seriously, hardware or beach, no comparison - hardware wins for me!).
My PC is pretty old (e2180, 2gb ram, 8800GT), and because of the expenditure of moving, i can't afford to get my PC future proofed before leaving. This CPU would give me a reason to stay an enthusiast a few years longer and give me a valid excuse to convince the wife that i now must buy an X58 board and ram before leaving | | | | well.. I always wanted is to run 100k calculators at one time..
JUST LET ME WIN AND MY DREAMS WILL COME TRUE! | | | | CELERON!!!! BE HEAR ME NOW!! BE GONE!
The celeron has destroyed any bit of soul that lives inside me. Games? no...fun? no...Reason to use my computer anymore?
I LIVE FOR MY COMPUTER. HOW DARE A CELERON LIVE INSIDE IT! Intel dare me be shot within for creating such a thing to live inside this machine! GO TO HELL. kthx.
Kind regards,
FuZzCasT. | | | | I deserve to win because the prize comes with the great heatsink fan kit, so I can use the heatsink to balance a sofa leg and the fan to cool my kittten. |

| | | | | | Well i like to win because i can use one of the best processor on the market!!! | | | | I should win ... hmm why? I do not know why but i must win. I really deserve it because i have been the most creative and entertaining. But come one i won't win there is

| | | | | | I deserve the Intel processor; because since 1991, I have been a loyal Intel user. I have always built my desktop computers for myself and my friends with Intel processors. Presently, my desktop computer has an Intel Pentium 4, 1.9 gigahertz processor, and it still runs excellentlly - probably like it ran on its first day when electricity ran through its veins. (I know how to take care of computers - keep them clean and make sure the cooling fans operate!)
If I win this processor and purchase a matching systemboard, I would love to see how a current state-of-the-arts processor and systemboard would run. I would, then, give my former computer to a relative, and show that person how to keep it clean. No telling how years, that Pentium 4 processor would run. | | | | <-------------------------------STUDENT HERE-------------------------------> | | | | Help
Hi all my name is AMD 4000+ i have been working for Samarlian for 5 long hard years now it all started when he introduced me to his freinds Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe and 7800 GTx life was ok at first but then he decided to add more voltage to me causing me to to work alot harder and hotter causing me to overheat and sweat alot.
I started to complain so at least he bought me a new cooling fan which kept me from getting to hot but life was still hard as i am running at 2.976Ghz this caused my front side bust to go up so i had to buy a Bra to keep me very stable.
With his new 8800gtx i could play BF2 and could still do other things but since he has progressed to higher 3d games my life has become critical , life is so much stress and strain playing crysis and Call of duty series every night i fell like i am going to die any day now.
So please please help to save or extend my little life so i can enjoy my retirement and dream of working in a childs pc with only web browsing and home work to do.
Thanks for listening to my moans and groans and heres a little joke to help cheer us up

| | | | | | I just got out of the funny farm, and stopped the pillz. I was working but temporary jobs dry up when ur locked up. There is a forum where u can go read all about it, I won't bore you with details. Just that it would be kind of cool to get a reward for what from all accounts usually you expect scorn, even from your own family. It kinda makes you angry when u get locked up just when u decided to try and sort your life out; but what is intolerable is the medication, the side effect will make u look retarded, spastic even; its called targetive dykenesia. Its like giving you a tablet to bring on symptoms of parkinson's disease when ur still a virgin. That's f***ing great help doc, sweet when can I get my next prescription? I don't tell many people this openly but if u take the piss its like taking the piss out of someone suffering from cancer. Don't do it and I'll keep my rendition of Friday the 13th in check. | | | | Meeezzzz wantzzzzzzzzzz Corei7zzzzzzzzz or ellllllllllllllllzzz willlllllzzzzz eitzzzzz yourzzzzzzzzz brainzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz !!!zzz
LoLz | | | | Everything Intel. It's better than pr0n!...WELL TECHNICALLY I WOULD PREFER BOTH BUT INTEL CUMS FIRST!!!111
THIS IS FOR YOU INTEL, SKEET SKEET SKEET ON AMD!!!111 | | | | I feel I deserve this prize, because I am a secret undercover agent who flies around the world to kill terrorists, and my watch needs a full powered CPU just to run all of my nice gadgets. Without this CPU I will lose my laser abilities from my watch and will end up getting captured by terrorists!... So you really have to help me here PLEASE! | | | | All of my wildest dreams would come true with such a CPU as this. Colours would be brighter, darks would be darker! Rainbows would appear at random intervals wherever I was at the time! Gumballs and jellybeans would fall from the sky!
Crime would drop to nothing. Pain, sorrow and crying would be a thing of the past!
Life would be EXACTLY like a box of chocolates!
Oh, and my current rig is getting a little long in the tooth! | | | | Because..... i don't know why but.... hey waith do you hear the ring of the bell? No! This isn't the ring of the bell this is..... the sound of this da old rusty pc!! That's awful and pretty painful but... that's the life!! | | | | I deserve it because my daughter stole my other keychain and put it on her backpack. | | | | I would like to win the processor because here in Brazil it costs too much and I do not like to buy to complete my system. | | | | Because im from Romania, a far, far away country, i have an x2 brisbane g1-rev and it sucks but in the future years will be a good thing if i wil have money for electric bill, with the bunch of stupid and corupt people that is ruining my country, and i realy, realy want to upgrade my cpu but i dont have the money to buy that thing, but i am sore that i will be disapointed by the result of this contest. So i hope that god will help me this time. I've never got nothing by winning in my entire life !Hope i will win! Thanks in advance for reading this words. | | | | I cannot afford to join the i7 crowd without this opportunity | | | | Me machine is drooping...when it droops it is embarrassing...me need Viagra for computer part to get hard gaming on.
Me thank you.
Me | | | | I deserved it because EVERY TIME, that i considered in going for an Intel rig AMD came out witch a better performance/cost for the price.
I never had an Intel CPU...
K5 PR-120
K6-266
K6-2 450
Athlon XP 1800+
Athlon 64 3200+ s754
Athlon X2 4200+
Phenom 2 X3 710
I whould like to join the big blue party with the Core i7, switch sides for a while...
Witch a cant whiout this opportunnity, since buying hardware here is expensive, very, just imagine to have to play +50% the price for a I7-920, them that * 3.92, that will give you an idea of how expensive is its here... | | | | I am running a s939... isn't that reason enough? I can't run the SMP client for Folding at all on this thing, while the i7 can scream with it. Plus it would really help out my ability to game.
With an i7 I could pass this rig on to my wife who is running a socket A Athlon 2000+. That way she wouldn't be pestering me when her Farmville game on facebook is lagging so bad.
See, it would make my home a much happier place. | | | | I need this cpu because I love to have one, as simple as that but I can't afford it actually. | | | | I should win this core i7. I am a time travelling technician.
It was accidental, really. I was putting the final touches on my new computer rig that I was building to control the electro-magnetic pulse magnets for my superheterodyning Ion Plasma Fusion reactor. Unfortunately, as it turned (or in this case will turn) out to be, one of my junior engineers left the system wired into the control boards and, more unfortunately, I was working on the system "hot" which, for those of you who don't know, means I was making my repairs on a live system.
Not good, really.
So, there I was (or, will be, I guess) hooking in the last of the 8 core i7 processors to power the the magnet controllers properly (it takes a bit of processing power to calculate the timing of the pulses to achieve sustainable Ion Plasma Fusion, let me tell you) and as I made the last connection after flipping over the ZIF socket lever, something must have (or will be soon) sparked over and started the system running.
I wasn't ready for a test. As the magnets powered up, I raised my head and thought, "Holy shit! What's happening now?" And realized that I'd better get the hell out of dodge right now. So I stood up from the chair and my pocket protector (they're back in style) lurched outward and hung onto something inside the computer box. The Gecko Strip (tm) hold-down on the pocket protector literally pulled me to a complete stop and I almost fell over the control board.
A humming filled the air and the hair on my arms and neck and my back (yes, I have a hairy back, so sue me) as well as what's left on my head stood on end (or will stand on end in the future, it gets so confusing...) and I felt a wickedly raw tingling all across my skin. I was enveloped in a light pale orange plasma field (due to the 78% Nitrogen content of the air) and I suddenly felt like I was being squeezed and pulled apart in rapid succession. I yanked on my pocket protector and succeeded in ripping my lab coat.
Too late. I realized I needed to do something drastic, so I yanked out the newly installed Intel Core i7, hoping and praying for a miracle. And I got one, yessirree, Bob, I got one in spades.
Which just goes to show you that you should have a care what you wish for, you may receive it. My miracle? I felt like I was exploding and imploding, everything went red, then grey, then black --- then a white so blindingly bright that I was sure my eyeballs'd be fried right out of their sockets.
Next thing I knew, I was laying face up, looking into the face of a little kid, about 11 I'd say.
"Gee, Mister, what'cha doin' laying out here with that funny looking box?"
I blinked. I looked in the direction of the kid's gaze and saw my computer box, laying beside me, one gaping socket missing a processor. I focused on the kid. I tried to speak, but my voice was a croak -- I had no spittle left to unstick my tongue. It took a few tries, but I finally managed to say, "Wh-- where... where am I?"
"Sheesh, Mister, dont'cha even know where y'are? Geez, did you take a bump on the head or sumpin'?" The boy straightened up and said, "Mister, you're here in the great state of Texas, just outside of Laredo."
This was a surprise to me as I was originally in Sunnyvale as a Superconducting Plasma Engineer working on a super conducting Ion Plasma Fusion Tokamak Reactor. I looked at the kid's clothing and didn't really notice anything to make me wonder, but the way the kid talked, it struck me as -- well, odd.
So I asked, "What day is it?"
He said, "Tuesday."
I shook my head. "No, I mean, what's the date today?"
"Why din't ya say so, Mister? It's Tuesday, the 27th of October, 2009."
I think my face must have paled, cause the kid then said, "You ain't gonna get sick are ya, Mister?" I shook my head.
And that's my story. I started off in Sunnyvale, California at the MaxFusion Company and somehow made my way to just outside of Laredo, Texas -- 4 years earlier than when I was in California. I was using the i7 processors, because they were cheap and still pretty reliable. The newer processors were faster, but they were also more flaky when placed near the Electro-Magnetic Pulse field. The Core i7s were a lot more stable and easier to build a Faraday Shield for than the newer models.
And I can build this system here, now in this day and age, because the computer box I have with me has all the program software and control algorithms in it. It's just that I'm missing one out of 8 necessary i7 processors.
And as regards my 10 valid posts, before I was catapulted back 4 years, I had been a regular forum poster here, racking up several hundred posts regarding gaming, game theory and superconducting plasma field control. In fact, I was one of the earlier registered users when the site was relatively new -- about a year ago from now, I guess. I didn't really start posting here for another 2 years, though, so right now it looks like I don't participate much, but I really do -- erm, I mean, I will.
I really need that i7 and all the money I have in my pockets is stamped 2012 and later, so I can't really spend it. I don't want to have to resort to stealing, so I am offering a trade. An Intel i7 for the secrets of Ion Plasma Fusion Power. I think you folks are going to be coming out on the more advantageous side of this deal.
Me? All I want to do is get home to my wife and daughter and sleep in my own bed. In my proper time.
You can respond to my registered account (I've had it all this time) and I'll pick up the processor and all the other cool goodies from the porch of my old house before my present me gets home from work.
thanks a lot,
dunniteowl | | | | The other day my girl friend has gone.
She was in a delicate health, so she've been always depended medicines.
One day when we have supper, she said that
"If you are with me, neither you nor I would be happy...because of my illness."
Therefore I started BOINC only for World Community Grid.
Why? Because I am looking for a happy day for you all...of course for she and me too.
My dream will come true earlier if I had another i7.
Sorry for my poor English. | | | | I think I should win the processor becvause I a gamer and a productivity-suite user (Office) that dual-boots (Windows 7 and Kubuntu, both 64-bit) witha mere Celeron Dual-Core, which is barely melting the butter. | | | | Core i7 for Halloween party sure sounds nice.
Instead of getting a nice bag of candies,
I rather go for a nice super duper processor.
I am a big man, I deserve a big toy than candy that can rot my teeth.
If I did not win, I guess it's not an end of the world
However, it sure will not be a very happy halloween
Let along it's going to be a very sad Holiday season.
So, please brighten my holiday with this awesome gift
so that instead of rotting my teeth, I can rot my mind trying to overclock this baby
So that I can use it to keep my room warm at the cold winter night
While I keep my heart warn knowing that somewhere out there is someone generous that bestow such nice gift to me | | | | I need a Core i7 because nVidia took away from us ATi users the ability to use AGEIA cards for PhysX, and now I need a more powerful CPU to see debris, pieces of papers and clothes hanging everywhere at playable framerates!!! After all, that's all PhysX is about, hanging clothes everywhere!!!! I want my clothes!!! |

| | | | | | Okay guys , so you all need it so badly , don't ya ? Well ,wonder why I DON'T want to win in this contest ? because
1. I DON'T want to have the best cpu on the planet inside my case.
2. I love shouting at my computer everytime I play GTA IV.
3. 'I' DON'T like the 'i' in i7 920 because 'I' dont have it.(i like 'i'ntel tho).
4. I DON'T want my 3ds max and maya render animations so fast, because that's the only time i get a break and go out for shopping.
5. I DON'T wanna let my friends know that the intel is the best , by seeing the i7 benchmarks.
6. Finally, I just DON'T wanna be the luckiest person alive! | | | | I deserve to win because i been supporting intel since the Pentium1 133mhz, Pentium2 266mhz, Pentium3 600mhz, Pentium4 2.2ghz, till my last Xeon 3.60Ghz... is time to give something back dosent it? haha... come on Intel! dont be Greedy and put a BFG Smile on my face! i want to upgrade my Irwindale Xeon 3.60Ghz 2mbCache to a brand new i7! honestly is time to give something back to me... or next time my next rig would be an amd... ... ... ... not really. | | | | This past month. I decided to build my first rig in almost 10 years. When I received all the parts I spent the next hour building the system and the next 6 hours trying to figure what component was DOA. It was my first DOA in almost 15 years.
Turned out it was the motherboard which I promptly returned, but as I couldn't wait I went to Fry's to get a replacement board. The board I got there was also DOA and it was the last one of that model, as well as the last one that had an Nvidia chipset for an AMD processor. Wanting to finish my computer I broke down and got a different mobo with an AMD chipset. Now there was no reason to have the Nvidia video cards I had just bought so I ended up returning those and ended up getting a 5850 as well as exchanging the PSU.
The only components I haven't had to replace are the CPU and memory. Winning this processor would make me replace the final two components, plus replacing the mobo for the 3rd time.
What could possibly give you greater joy than making my life more difficult?
That and I will play and review City Bus Simulator 2010! |

| | | | | | Longtime no see..
I do not actually leave this site behind. I have been drowning myself into busy works.
Always feel dumb when reading most great post with great PC spec in any thread of this site. How most of you seem to be so knowledgeable. So just passively reading most thread. My PC spec with Prescott processor and 1 gb memory started messing me up. The CPU fans keep spinning up creating noisy sound like a jet pacing in a taxiway. But you have to know it still a PC spec that made me proud since 6 years ago. Why, though it run very well with Windows XP, It was able to handle Windows 7 nicely. Of course with problem with outdated drivers and some even not registered as having WDDM. But it doesnt prevent me from having that Windows 7 running.
I do it all as it is better than getting desperate by wanting better spec with no chance of prioritizing it. Most of my work coming from my PC. I almost even forget my hand writing, never write anything far beyond a quarter of page.
I just can not imagine if having i7-920 with 8mb smartcache. It could probably make me wet my pants in an instant. Why not? Unable to get rid of my Prescott and upgrade to a bit higher spec is already something. Or I may kiss anyone passing by my office. I dont know. But, sure I will always keep my dream of having best Intel Processor. If I could not get it free, sure I will buy, eventhough it should be done by 3 years of saving........ Hope so. | | | | I would love to surprise my son with a new rig this xmas, but budget is a little tight around. | | | | Geesh sorry, i somehow thought my first post didnt make it... could any of the mods delete this post? |

| | | | | | GIMMIE GIMMIE A PROCESSOR !!! | | | | I need an Intel Core i7 920 like I need a hole in the head.
(Actually, too many people tell me that's exactly what I need. That is, a hole in the head. And, they tell me this because they say I need to release some stress I have. They think the only way I can get rid of this stress is to have a hole for it to escape.)
Now, I don't want a hole in the head anymore than I want a Intel Core i7 920.
But, if I had to make a choice between a hole in the head and a Intel Core i7 920, I'd much prefer the Intel Core i7 920.
So, if you want to help me avoid getting a hole in the head, please send me the Intel Core i7 920.
Did I say "Intel Core i7 920" enough times in this post? | | | | So much naive people greedy wishing only one processor..... I represent, that happens, if all wishing to invite in one room. By the way one of these days to me have called on phone and promised to present a notebook for 2700 $, and I have almost believed in it, but in time have stopped. In this world there are much more interesting moments, than any slice of silicon during the moment of world crisis. | | | | Well if its the new Corei7 920 for free hmm oh wait na its not free cuz i have to prove it im earning it so here goes im using intel since dont know when, its no matter where i live ppl dont know much about pc but yes i do know hell yeh cuz of intel's enthusiasm towards tomorrow.Same thought and same ground intel! i am a devoted enthusiast, took start over a novice pc start thinking over built my own innovations, viewed all it has to carry helped out people to buy out intel and proved its way better then any other brand cuz if you really wanna feel it the power of tomorrow be INTEL.lolz didnt even buyed that core2 series but atleast had that pentuim D wid me and i simply love it intel rocks and it will keep rocking my determinations towards them and future,,still waiting to know what they are upto and how to define more interesting aspects of IT,larrabee is going to be gbest i just know it cuz i believe it cuz its INTEL and its inside.Inside whtever it has to offer upto extreme levels just as corei7 920 .when i'll have it i'll unleash my overclocker inside really wanna touch the peaks wid it but still wanna keep my old buddy pentiumD cuz its intel and everything conerning intel is way beyond IT,,its not hardware its life
although it is very expensive no one can tell you better then me.But why using the word expensive when you love to do something u dont see money,u make every effort possible to have it.if i dont get this core i7 920 its ok i wont let go of intel that easy.Cuz intel is intel the pioneer of whtever we use.So be intel to stand for the future | | | | Honestly I don't need an i7.
So far the processor I do have seem to get me by OK.
But I would not turn down a new processor , and winning would certainly cheer me up.
I would welcome a chance to be cheered up , especially this time of year. | | | | I would love to win the i7 CPU so I can pass my old dual core and motherboard on to my 8 year old son who desperately wants to play on line with me but can not for now as he only has an old AMD cpu..
If I win it will not only allow me and my son to bond on a higher level, but will also keep us out of the way of my wife and his sister so you will also be making two women very happy so its win win win all round... | | | | | | Quote:

mmm
My concious says: NO! you already have a 2 years old rig!
But my ego says: GO FOR IT!!! you will play games faster! your applications will rock! even your internet will improve with this CPU!!!
Who am I supposed to listen? Concious? Ego? both?
Well, if I win it my concious will be clean since I didn't buy! and my ego will go up to sky!!! both will be really really really happy!!! | | | | Why? Because last week I've spent 3 8-hour work days waiting for damn Excel to finish some calculation. With this baby, I'd have 2 days to play Quake on quakelive.com while my employer thinks I'm waiting for my E2200 to finish the work | | | | Because i want to see is it really good as Intel said ... | | | | Quote:

Arrigato | | | | Wow - so many interesting requests. folding@home is a good idea
- im currently folding on my shuttle SX48P2 with my Q9550.
Now, when i got that rig i wanted the best performance at the best price. Long story short, a few weeks later, shuttle released an i7 barebones... DoH!
Iv been longing to cram an i7 into a shuttle eversince, so this would be a great way to test if the i7 is as good as i think it is. Gut my SX48P2 and stick it all (GTX280 XXX aswell) - all watercooled... well - im in the process of this currently - will post pics :] // all in the SX58H7... should be AWESOME.
Muchly appreciated :]
Nathan. | | | | Core i7 just in my dream, I still using core2 7200 , so maybe I'll lucky to win? Oh Yeah | | | | Quote:
