Playstation Commercial Offends Nigeria
Posted by Regeneration on September 22nd, 2009, 08:00 PM

The advert, for Sony's new "slim" PlayStation 3, shows a salesman being asked about the price of the console. The salesman says that you can't believe everything you read on the Internet "Otherwise I'd be a Nigerian millionaire by now."

The Nigerian federal government is incandescent with rage at the ad which it says is a deliberate negative campaign against the country’s image and reputation. In a statement, a Nigerian government official said that the country wants an apology from Sony, which was clearly seeking to undermine Nigeria's business interest around the world.

"This insinuation is in bad faith and unacceptable. The government and the good people of Nigeria reject this unwarranted attack on the reputation and image of the country," he said.

Of course they heard about it... the same people now claim they are offended and they want some money from Sony as compensation.

A country suing Sony? On what court will that be handled? In Haag?

Sony should just buy Nigeria and then sell off its assets to the far flung corners of the earth.

But they do have oil. Maybe they are not the ones draining it, but they do have oil.

Agabobo that was totally hilarious, hey but you forgot your account details...lol. Okay guys on a serious note, Nigeria is an almost irredeemably corrupt nation, nothing works here (I am Nigerian and I live in it). These scammers are mostly frustrated youth that gave nothing to do because of the dysfunctional system. Imagine, schools (universities, crappy ones at that) have been closed for months because the lecturers are on strike, yet the 'president' jets off to Saudi Arabia for a university launch! At the same time he sends his foreign affairs minister to represent the country at the UN general assembly, and earlier in the year he complained about how other countries always try to undermine Nigeria's standing. SHAME ON OUR LEADERS!
