Michael Jackson Deceased
Posted by Regeneration on June 26th, 2009, 08:51 AM

Michael Jackson, the show-stopping singer whose best-selling albums -- including "Off the Wall," "Thriller" and "Bad" -- and electrifying stage presence made him one of the most popular artists of all time, died Thursday, CNN has confirmed. He was 50. He collapsed at his residence in the Holmby Hills section of Los Angeles, California, about noon Pacific time, suffering cardiac arrest, according to brother Randy Jackson.

He died at UCLA Medical Center. Lt. Fred Corral of the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office said an autopsy would probably be done on the singer Friday, with results expected that afternoon.

Michael Jackson made culture accept a person of color," the Rev. Al Sharpton said. "To say an 'icon' would only give these young people in Harlem a fraction of what he was. He was a historic figure that people will measure music and the industry by."

Jackson's blazing rise to stardom -- and later fall from grace -- is among the most startling of show business tales. The son of a steelworker, he rose to fame as the lead singer of the Jackson 5, a band he formed with his brothers in the late 1960s. By the late '70s, as a solo artist, he was topping the charts with cuts from "Off the Wall," including "Rock With You" and "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough."

I know there has been a lot of shit tied to his carrier, but IMO he was special. I was sad when I heard he's gone. Rest in peace, Michael.

Oh come on, those moves are pure art. And Billie Jean is the best song I ever heard. And mind you, this is a metalhead talking.

Michael Jackson was a phenomenal artist. He was a perfectionist. His zodiac sign is Virgo. They are the true perfectionists. He led a rather complicated life, but he seemed to be a very quiet, reserved, pleasant type of individual. To some who don't understand him, M-J may appear to be enigmatic. Cher made some wonderful comments on the Larry King show last night regarding his life and her performance with him years ago. He taught her some great dance moves she never thought she was capable of doing. She is awesome as well! I never saw M-J perform live, but he must have been amazing to see. He truly knows how to put on a show! He is dynamic and has boundless energy! M-J is very gifted with superfluous talent! May his memory live on in our hearts and especially in the music he has given to us. There should be a special tribute in the form of a 'Michael Jackson Day' just because he is such an icon or of many artists collectively. I have many of his albums personally, including 'Off the Wall' and for sure 'Thriller' is non-duplicatable! The Jackson 5 were fabulous, but Michael Jackson was unbelievable and unstoppable. Many new artists have imitated and incorporated some of his moves and music into their performances. That is the ultimate compliment. I am very saddened for his family, friends, and especially his children. I hope they will remember him as a loving, and caring father who was adored by the public. That is how we should remember him despite his faults and we all have them. You will rest in peace now Michael. You are now in the hands of someone who loves you unconditionally.

I really liked his songs. But to be honest, I never liked his personality, he was antisemitic POS. But as an artist, he was the king. RIP.

Grew up with the album Thriller here, and I still remember the album Bad and the film he did at that time.
