Improves startup performance slightly on my sisters laptop. | | | | Any other noteworthy changes? | | | | Better wifi response when resuming from power states, snappier application launches
I dunno but i think it installs .net 3.5 as well? | | | | Windows SP2 Final as finally arrived and Im very impressed, the only drawback is that it un-registers 1 or 2 programs, but its easily to re-register them, (this is mainly internet based program and tweak programs) no more evaluation watermarks and I have noticed after 3 days a great speed improvement in general explorer-type browsing, gaming and application response. it installed perfectly and only took 20 minutes to full installation completion, and amazingly enough its does not revert any services or any settings to default windows setting as previous service packs did, it leaves your tweaked settings well alone and does not even re-activate windows update (if disabled) I checked through all settings and services and none and been reverted, its about time to that microsft let us choose our own settings rather than SPs reverting them to default, overall very impressed with vista SP2. | | | | glad it works well for you | | | | i have frecuently BAD POOL CALLER error ,i hope this SP2 fix it | | | | | | Quote:

What ^^^^^ said. You need to run RAM diagnostic and/or remove one stick at a time until the error goes away. But, it's definitely bad RAM. | | | | Quote:
Originally Posted by gorgar75 i have frecuently BAD POOL CALLER error ,i hope this SP2 fix it | Hi, Sorry to Say NO, SP2 Will not fix this error for you this error is fatal and is a memory allocation error, and suggests that you may have a faulty memory stick, try taking 1 stick out and see if the error goes away, if not try the other stick, from experience this is due to a faulty module, however it can be related to BIOS memory timings, try notching the memoyy voltage up a step or 2 but not higher than 2.10v, try finding out what are the EXACT timings for each module and set them manually in the BIOS.
However the Ideal solution is buy COMPATIBLE memory for your motherboard, this error usually occurs when you are using cheap memory modules, or modules with different timings, or simply have an imcompitable motherboard for the memory.
BAD POOL CALLER is not software based, its an Hardware Issue relating to your memory modules and please dont think re-formatting windows will solve the problem it will not, trust me I know.
Good luck, and I hope everything works well for you, be careful in the BIOS if you are not sure what you are doing, and if you have a gigabyte motherboard and are a newbie to the BIOS then I reccomend you buy an ASUS motherboard.
All the Best. | | | | | | | | BAD POOL CALLER is not just limited to hardware. A simple driver file can cause this error as well. I know this as I was forced to remove comodo internet security because it's own inspect.sys was causing this BAD POOL CALLER. Since removing the comodo software the problem with BAD POOL CALLER has gone away. BAD POOL CALLER based on expeirences is very generalized and not limited to just hardware.
Those of you who have gone to school about this stuff should know this already. | | | | When doing a fresh install, after installing Vista, do we still need to install SP1 first, or can we just go to SP2, and skip SP1? | | | | is it 100% final version vista service pack 2 ore Release Candidat RC??? | | | | Quote:

Those of you who have gone to school about this stuff should know this already. | driver files do not cause bad pool callers. they cause irq errors.
Bad pool callers are always bad hardware. | | | | Although pad pool caller errors are predominantly hardware/memory problems I have seen them be as a result of software, registry problems and registry hive corruption can cause these as well, botched hardware software/driver installs can also cause them especially if they screw up something in the registry. | | | | i've never seen a bad pooler occur because of a bad driver. its a memory addressing fault in the memory stack. drivers which access memory incorrectly wrong usually say as such, or give irq not equal. | | | | Ive seen many different things cause it, everything from bad memory as you said(which is most common) to a bad wireless addapter, Ive had a couple instances even on my own system where theyve been caused by botched drivers and corrupted registry and were fixed though software | | | | What about DirectX 11 !, i heard it will include it with SP2 mmm. | | | | you heard wrong.
Dx11 will not be available for Vista till Win 7 releases | | | | Today I updated my pc and I can't tell the difference unless i use it for few days. I notice one thing forsure it added bluetooth section to the control panel. | | | | Installed Vista SP2 on HP Pavillion Laptop.
Got error oxooooooE3 and Geswall.sys., date stamp.
Tried restore point but comes up with Vista sp2 restore point. Going back to Windows recovery screen. Cant go into save mode at all. Please help as I do not want to delete all my flies as I have a presentation on SQL this Friday. | | |
