| | | Man Kills Woman for Playing Too Much GTA | Malcolm Palmer, 62, turned on the mother of his three children after she became hooked on the violent Grand Theft Auto driving game. He was forced to sleep on a sofa in their conservatory as Carol Cannom, 46, stayed up all night with the 37-inch plasma television screen she brought into their room for her all-night gaming sessions.
The couple from Long Sutton, Lincolnshire. had been together for 30 years but their relationship soured after they bought the console for their 10-year-old son James. He would play on the computer until midnight, after which Ms Cannom would take over, regularly staying up until five or six in the morning, Lincoln Crown Court was told.
"Carol quickly became hooked. He was very unhappy about the amount of time she was playing on the PlayStation," said John Pini QC for the prosecution. The court yesterday heard how Palmer had also become convinced that she was having an affair, and went into a violent rage when she told him she wanted him to move out in November last year, threatening that he would never get to see their children again.

This is the first GTA related homicide where the player gets the short end of the stick. | | | | She was having an affair with Niko bellic. | | | | Quote:

so girls dont play games play something else othervise ......... | | | | He's 62, she was 46. Been together for 30 years = he was 36, she was 16 (!) when they hooked up. So s.th. wasn't quite right in the first place. She told him to move out - you don't usually do that if you're happily married. About the affair, it was speculation on his part. But if she did have an affair, it's just further proof s.th. else was wrong with their relationship, and not necessarily because of her video gaming.
If the only "solution" he can think of is to kill her, well...dare I repeat myself: s.th. was generally wrong! S.th. was deeply flawed with him and/or their relationship.
The only reason he brings GTA into it is as a "GTA made me do it" defense, but he even gets this one the wrong way 'round: SHE was supposed to kill HIM because of her being addicted to violent "killer games".
Now, if he had argued that he was scared to death of her, because these games somehow changed her, and he was only acting in "preemptive self-defense", a kill-or-be-killed-situation, because, c'mon, the papers are full of stories about crackpot gamers hooked on violence, and it was only a matter of time till she flipped. He had to THINK OF THE CHILDREN!
Sick times we're living in... | | | | Quote:
