LOL | | | | I don't know about CoD4, but, upon installing this using the unified Vista/Windows 7 x64 drivers, CCC fails to recognize the 2nd LCD monitor I have connected. I had to right click the Windows Desktop and select Screen Resolution. There I could enable the 2nd monitor. Then, when I opened CCC again, there it was.
CCC definitely should detect any and all monitors connected without depending on the Windows Desktop Properties option. | | | | I have no problems with new drivers under 7 x64 and xp x64, call of duty 4 works too.
Just cheked out to make myself sure, i run Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare Multiplayer with patch 1.7 and it works like it was working on catalysts 9.2 and all other versions before. |

| Quote | | | | | I never had any problem with any version of the catalyst, because when you uninstall the previous version always use the CCleaner and Registry Mechanic to clean the registry. | | | | Hi, but how do you uninstall the previous versions? | | | | I never uninstalled previous versions and so far I didn't had any issues
aside from that general problem with 8.12 and after with 3870 in crossfire but I sold the 3870 and bought a 4870X2 a few months ago | | | | Quote:

I haven't uninstalled ATI drivers in years now.
The only time you'd really want to is if you're reverting to previous drivers. | | | | Drivers are not designed to be overwritten.
Always remove first, otherwise locked files will not be overwritten. | | | | I've dealt directly with members of the Catalyst Driver team. [Anyone here know who STEVE is?] Per the OFFICIAL developers of the ATI drivers, they ARE designed to uninstall older files when updating to newer drivers.
All that is needed is to run the Install process. If you watch the process, it DOES uninstall the older files prior to installing the new ones.
As I stated above, I have not uninstalled drivers in years now unless I'm reverting to an older driver for some reason.
The problem with SOME of the so-called "driver cleaners" is that they can uninstall system critical files and make a bigger mess as a result.
Just run the ATI Catalyst Drivers and let them do what they are DESIGNED to do. | | | | CCleaner quite probably.
Driver sweeper, driver cleaner, most definitely not. | | | | Yes, well, when I uninstall the ATI package, reboot and reboot again in safe mode, how come there are still ATI files present in the system?
Driver sweeper takes care of them and minimizes the chance that something may go wrong. Also, some games (read GTA IV) are ultra sensitive and if I don't perform this procedure every time I change the drivers, the games start to stutter like mad. After a cleanup, things get back to normal. | | | | Actually, thats because the Final stage of uninstall is a Runonce command, which deletes the files previously locked.
Safemode does not execute any run or runonce keys so the files remain. | | | | We have a breakdown in communication here. Quote: |

| Uninstall, reboot, get into normal windows, reboot again, then go into safe mode. | | | | I tend to uninstall in safe mode, since that gets rid of it all at once usually.
Though i get you, really.
Ati's uninstaller STILL SUCKS. | | | | Quote:
