Intel Cancels IDF Taiwan
Posted by Regeneration on February 9th, 2009, 03:17 PM

Intel has decided to cancel IDF (Intel Developer Forum) Taiwan 2009, originally slated for November, as part of its ongoing cost reduction efforts amid the global slowdown. The move comes as a surprise to many Taiwan PC and motherboard makers. Intel has hosted the IDF Taiwan since 1996. Intel will also reformat IDF Beijing 2009, scheduled in April, from two days into a more China-focused one-day event.

The maintaining of IDF Beijing indicates the growing importance of the China market, said market sources in Taiwan. However, Intel insisted that it will continue to strengthen its cooperation with Taiwan's government and local IT makers to sustain continuing industry growth and technology exchange. This will be achieved through Intel's presence at the Computex Taipei 2009 and other technology seminars and activities.
